Default Feedback required on English site www.leb-news.com - 12th August 2009

Hi All,

As you may or may not know www.leb-news.com or english.tayyar.org has been up and running for some time now delivering the correct news to the world as opposed to particular news outlets.

I would appreciate feedback from all those who visit it and also if they can spread the word of the site and get feedback from others.

What do you like?
What don't you like?
What would you like to see?

We will do our best to implement the feedback.

Thanks & regards

TL

Ps. any volunteers interested in consistently putting aside a few minutes a day and helping with live news updates PM me.

Hi,

I've already caught a few glimpses of the English website a couple of times, and all I can say is WORK ON THESE HEADLINES man...I mean news headlines cannot be written with the same style used for declarative sentences or whatnot...for example instead of saying "aoun says he is against naturalization, and adds that he will visit frangieh soon" u can resort to a more journalistic wording that changes the sentence and makes it as follows: "Aoun reiterates anti-naturalization stance; will visit frangieh soon"...instead of facebooking, Tweet ;)

Regards and Good Job Guys :) Carry on!

Two words for the news in French page : Grammar lessons.

Other than that, I agree with BEAST for the headlines formulations. English and French pages combined.

The feeling I have everytime I am visiting english and french sections is that it is more English-lebanese and French-lebanese than English and French. I think the redaction of the news should be more professional, there are too much faults (spelling, grammar).
The situation is way better than at the beginning, but recruting a sub-editor is a must if you want to be credible and present at international level.

About international presence, it would be easier to impose your presence by producing articles about non political news, so that the pannel of visitors is enlarged. For this last point, this is a good thing your articles are now "published" on google news, since it will help you attract such visitors for non-political news.
For now, I am pretty sure that most of the visitors are Lebanese pro-Tayyar... there are no more neutrals visiting tayyar.org. The direction given to the news page since some months insists too much on political pro-FPM news... above all those empty news about what does such deputy/candidate have said, instead of what does such deputy/candidate have accomplished.

Last thing, lots of pages are not up to date in english, french (and even arabic). The FPM Worldwide section is useless since you cannot be informed about FPM offices (no more contact informations for most countries) abroad.
I also tried lots of times to contact some FPM committee members (environment for example)... without success, most of the email adresses are fake. The parliamentary group "page" is out of date too.

Armenian, on the top right corner of tayyar.org, change it from "English" to "International".

True Lebanese,

This is really annoying. tayyar.org should not automatically default to "English". It was driving me crazy before I discovered the above cure.

I have the same problem when changing the language "too fast". You have to wait the complete downloading of the webpage before changing the language.
