Ma 3am befham,

The lady of Ipsos Stat that keeps calling me to see what did I watch yesterday, (I guess she is very interested in the segment I belong to), she always tries to push me to answer by LBC and try not to accept the OTV answers and double check each of them, but she never tries to promote MTV !!!

Everybdoy keeps telling me about wisaam sabbagh guest and Nishan late night guest, but frankly, this thread is the first time i learn about people watching MTV more than OTV

IPSOS belongs to antoine choueiry.

Many lawsuits were filled against the company (by NTV,FTV,NBN,Manar) because it's providing false stats, just to show that LBC is leading the market, hence it gets most of the ads.

1. the main purpose of this thread is to get some feedback of people watching OTV and what they think about this channel
if someone thinks that OTV is going down, and if he/she lists the reasons of this (as he/she sees them) let us take them as they are and try to analyze them... it's not a pure coincidence that many of us share the same feelings about OTV's bad performance

2. if we want to compare OTV to other TV stations, please let us compare it with all the others and do not restrict the comparison to one TV station (i.e. MTV) I know that we all tend to compare it with MTV because it's a newly opened TV station and their start was way too bigger than OTV's.. but we tend to forget that MTV is a RE-opened station and that is nothing compared to a brand new TV station, going from scratch and trying to get some market share (that is OTV's case)

3. when I say that we need more cultural programs, programs dealing with sports, education, social life, youth, etc etc... I'm saying this because I see a lack of them in OTV's grid... now don't tell me that other stations aren't better, because I don't give a **** about other stations when the others aren't as good as they are supposed to be.. it's our job and our duty to lead and give the example to the others on how a TV station should pick its shows, and how to spend its money in a way that promotes and spreads values and culture to the population... and believe me, this is what we are waiting for in a TV station (at least personally) not only politics and non-sense.... take for example the TV stations in europe and their grid show

4. OTV's news introduction might be good, and of course it is very biased, but any introduction should be biased, it's a political analysis after all... however the news itself should be more balanced: spare us the "istakbala wa wadda3a" we don't need them anymore, focus more on interesting reports covering all the aspects of education, sports, social life, youth, drugs, bars, clubs, water, electricity, etc etc... we have plenty of documents and topics we should unveil and expose to the people... (i know OTV is already doing it, but let us not only focus on the political topics)

etc, etc...

Let's look at it this way, OTV was launched during the crises, during the first couple of years, the country saw a mini-civil war and major elections, OTV not just survived, but it also passed most of the TV stations and is competing for the 2nd position now.

I am not saying we are satisfied with where OTV is right now and i am not saying OTV doesn't need any improvement, on the contrary, until we become number one, we have lot of work to do, but we have came long way and one of the main reasons OTV is where it is right now is Roy el Hechem.

He is the CEO and he arrives to work before most of the employees and leaves after them, his door is always open and anyone can knock his door and enter sit with him, ask any employee in OTV and they will tell you how much he is close to the staff there.

If FPM as a whole can't see the BIG failure in 2009 elections, well i dont know what to say.

Delivering "OUR" message to the people isnt only by news, it is a whole package.

Please compare the Start of OTV with what it is now.

We are not here just to attack Blindly, we are trying to improve OTV.
And all what is said, we are saying it from the bottom of our heart, bcuz we Love OTV we Love FPM, because our Blood is pure orange.

We are talking cuz Alebna Ma7rou2.

if we are unable to reconstruct ourselves from now till the next elections, and put ourselves in a better shapes, from media to the ground to the party organization, we should start preparing our bags to leave by 2013.

Thank You.
Let me put it this way, without OTV, shou ken sar bl FPM in the elections?

During the past 12 months, everything was on hold and everybody was working for the elections, once the elections was over, we were in the middle of the summer, and summer is the lowest period when it comes to TV stations simply because no one sits home in the summer, all TV stations launch their new programs in autumn, now it's Ramadan and the end of the summer, in 2 weeks time, OTV will launch the new grid.

X, i'll tell you a little secret, when a tv sation starts going down nothing ever will lift it back up again. take tele liban for example, even if they spend billions in renovations and new shows it will never compete with other stations.

instead of comparing OTV numbers with MTV, do you have a chart showing otv viewers from the beginning till now?
I showed the chart between OTV and MTV because in this thread people were talking about how MTV is performing better than OTV, which is simply not the case.

No one in OTV's management is happy with the numbers, they all want OTV to become number one, but we have to be realistic, OTV is 2 years old, and LBC is almost 30 years old.

On this Forum, people were begging OTV to be offensive when it comes to news, I am 100% sure that OTV will come under all kind of attacks if it changes to moderate tone, e7terna ya 2ar3a

On the old grid, OTV had several programs dealing with "Social" and "Cultural" issues, the ratings were the lowest all over Lebanon, one of this shows was on Sunday evening and it almost had the lowest viewers, it was replaced by LOL and after couple of episodes, OTV on Sunday evening was competing with LBC! One Sunday OTV had more viewers than LBC during LOL!

Now companies are running after OTV to advertise during LOL, while they were running away from OTV during the other program.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion, I want you all to understand few things, OTV started from zero, it had nothing but news, so it had to create it's own programs, during the first 2 years, lot of programs were launched, some succeeded and some failed, those who succeeded are still on air (Kazadoo for example is one of the best if not best kids program in Lebanon), now OTV will launch 11 new programs, no one should expect all 11 to be successful, if half those new programs are successful, that will be great.

By time, after experimenting and learning, OTV will move forward, the management is gaining experience, they now have experience while they had limited experience 2 years ago.

I will give you all the right and I will even criticize OTV in case they keep a "bad" program on air, now that they will launch 11 new programs, they will see people's reaction on all of them, the good programs will remain on air and the bad programs will not come back next season.

Since we have statistics included in this thread, let me post the stat of yesterday for example supporting X

In this stat, it clearly shows LBC #1 , Al Jadeed #2, OTV #3 competing with MTV.

There is no single doubt that MTV is doing a good job and they are competing with OTV for the 3rd position, however OTV is till now a strong 3rd player.
On the second hand, while saluting the hard work of all OTV employees notably MR. Hachem, I believe that serious work should be done to be up to the level of competition in the future.

isn't this graph alaring enough?? you can barely see the orange line!!

if the first reaches 15%, the second at 9% we shouldnt be proud to be third at 2%. and that doesnt mean we are competing for the second place... we are faaaaar behind.

you can say we are struggling to remain in the third position

Commenting on the graph posted by chief, one cannot help but notice that at midnight OTV becomes number 1. Am I missing something here???

And then, what are these 25:00 and 27:00? Are these supposed to be hours?

GMAF, Being #1 in a small time segment doesnt mean anything + being #1 @ midnight meaningless since its an off peak time.

As for the 25:00 and the 27:00 these are hours but the system doesnt recognize that 25:00 means 01:00

Let me put it this way: if things keep going the way they are without any change in behavior or strategy, MTV will be #3 in short period of time

I agree completely with you, my post was just a wonder if maybe I am missing some special program at midnight which is pushing our rating to number 1?
