On Friday June 13 2008 at 21:00, OTV will be broadcasting a Special episode for 3 hours about Ehden Massacre entitled: “إهدن: ثلاثون سنة، المجزرة و المغفرة”

Live from the place of the massacre in Ehden, Mr. Georges Yasmine will be hosting parents and relatives of the martyrs; people who managed to escape the massacre will be giving testimonials and true stories about what really happened on that day.

The episode will include a live intervention from Ex Minister Sleiman Frangiyeh and from Mrs Rima Frangiyeh

رأت سونيا فرنجية كريمة الرئيس الراحل سليمان فرنجية أن الهدف من مجزرة إهدن هو تصفية القيادات المسيحية المعارضة لقيام دولة مسيحية مدعومة من إسرائيل، مشيرة إلى أن اغتيال شقيقها الشهيد طوني فرنجية جاء بعد يوم من لقاء جمعه برئيس الحكومة الراحل رشيد كرامي، لافتة إلى أن أحد المجرمين "وهو من آل صهيون كان يصرخ رح فرجيك كيف بتقابل كرامي".
فرنجية، وفي حديث إلى تلفزيون الـ

، كشفت أن وزير الخارجية الأميركي الأسبق عرض على والدها سليمان فرنجية ترحيل المسيحيين من لبنان لكنه (الرئيس فرنجية) رفض هذا الأمر.

The episode was great, it is really important for the new generation to know the history very well, so they can know who are they supporting and who are they suppose to support, and how to make their choices.

The episode was very good

But we have to admit that there is a real huge problem in christian community of Lebanon that was shown clearly yesterday:

- Community is Splitted
- No judgement. Criminals who should be condemned for life are free out of Jail and on TVs
- Feudal system to its maximum level, people accepting the death of their brothers and sisters and mothers "fida" tony beik, even a lady mentioned that it is OK, her husband died, but who is her husband compared to tony beik?
- No regulatory. the church who should interfere to try to solve such socio-political conflicts is sleeping
- No proper public collective memory. Personally, although i though that I read too much and knowledgable of Lebanese history, I must admit that it was the first time I hear such debate on Ehden massacre

Anyway, it seems that our society i still lacking behind (by far)

FPM mission in the future is very diffciult, we need miracles to solve the problems of this country

the episode was good but , as some people said : its from the past i dont think opening old problems will help us .
we should not open or remind people with problems that hurts our comunity (christians comunity) IF fpm want to open SOME (dossier) from the past i think all our leaders will go to jail its not the problem with geagea only its with ( nabih berri , walid jumblat , samir geagea , amine gemayel , ...... ) who paticipate in the civil war .

You maybe misunderstood the point of the episode. It is not a search for condeming someone and taking them to jail for their atrocities. (those people are already condemned). It is not digging up history....history is by definition a thing of the past....do you believe the aftermath of that crime is History to those concerned?...it is very much present:

. It is searching for 1. the truth, 2. knowing what is the past so that we LEARN from it for our future, and then 3. Asking for appology and giving it.

That is how you build your nation, not do a crime, claim innocence until found guilty in the eyes of society and till today showing no remorse.

You cannot share life with your partners if you don't come to terms with them. no civil war aftermath was really solved without a look back at what happened and learning from it (nazi germany, appartheid South Africa...)

The only reason the Lebanese are ready to get back at each other's throats is because they never had the courage to acknowledge what they did to each other and appologize so that they can move on.

Believe it or not, the Inter Shia fights and crimes are a thing of the past because they sat together....families, brothers and sisters of the same towns and villages and asked for forgiveness. There are cases or remarriages from people who lost loved ones from both political sides.
--> When will that happen in the Christian community? After this Episode, would you agree it is time for it? Would you join the call for it?

I couldn't watch but the first hour of this episode, which I enjoyed, because I had no clue, or very few to say the least, about that massacre and that period in general.

I don't think that the ostrich's behavior of sticking our head in the sand would help.

What would the history books include in the future? What will our children read about the 1975-1990 era? Will we omit it in order not to open the war wounds?

If we, Lebanese, couldn't have an investigating committee by the end of the civil war before faking an untruthful shaky reconciliation, then at least I'd like us to learn about the tragic events in order to analyze, understand and conclude about the war, its causes, its catalysts and its evolution.
