can't they use some kind of van like the ones used for live coverage
instead of singing over the phone?....each week the van visits a
selected area and asks those who are interested to sing live.
forget about the callers from other countries because there will be a delay of
3-4 seconds in the sound between the studio and the caller over the phone.

Good proposition! This reminds a little bit of the concept of "awwal 3al LBC"
with Riad Charara. It was like atwal ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooof

actually what i am talking about is not the same,
say the program is on saturday, people can call during the week
to register their interest in singing, then the van goes on saturday
to a certain area with the Karaoke gear and all the needed equipment
to meet the selected persons in that area and have them sing a whole song
for each one etc.... for example 10-15 persons each time will sing live
then the people can vote by SMS for their preferred candidate until the
next episode and so on.....
