Default What major to choose? - 8th August 2005

School and university will be back shortly and in order to give our young students a chance to discover and learn things from elder people, we opened a new thread that will be used by the members to discus about universities and majors, and this thread can be used by the students to ask for advices and listen to experiences. If you are thinking about a specific major or you still didn’t decide you destiny, you can use this thread and ask questions, and if you are a university graduate you can also use this thread to help our new generation.

Great idea X.

But lets take this a step further. How about an FPM welfare team. To tour the university campuses in Lebanon, and act as careers advisors during orientation week.

They can work alongside the FPM activists who will and should be running around promoting political awareness, the FPM reform program and signing new members. Ma tkhalo those socialist, gay rights and feminist activists a7la menkon, shedo 7alkon ya shabeb wa sabaya.

Where as for online assistance and advice I am more than willing to help and be helped as I too am still studying.

Default Biomedical engeneering - 8th August 2005

Right now i am doing a deug (diplome d études universitaires générales) in BIOPHYSICS in France..Then i will continue in an (école d ingénieur) to obtain a degree in Biomedical Engeneering (génie biomédicale)...
...
I now its weird to merge the Biology and the physics together but at school i used to like Biology and physics together...

Its hard to specialize in such domains... You have to be good in Math, Physics and computer science to understand a machine and work on it... and then you have to know about the human body and some chemical equations so Chemistry and Biology are a must...In conclusion you need tu study eveything related to science...

Most of the work is based on new technologies for Hospitals...How to benefit from the Physics to cure an illness or to fix a broken Leg...New inventions... Imagerie medicale (IRM)... Neurology ...

For futher detailes PM me, i have a complete report that i have done myself (but its in French)... And if anyone has informations and can help me in this domain please PM me...

Most probably yes. Depending on your career goals.
But even if you are planning to leave, there are some mistakes you can avoid.

how ironic and sad, giving advice to the younger generation by asking them not to do what I did.......

I basically studied at AUB, 7 great yrs, got my M.Sc, but had to leave Lebanon in search for a career. In Canada now, my career is more than great, but I missed the point! The more I am stay away, the harder it is to go back....its a race against time...and a stuggle between your logical vs. emotional side. I just hope that someday, logic, heritage, culture, emotions will all merge to say: Go to Lebanon for good.

...sorry a bit out of topic...but my humble experience is at your service :)

Man, you know how many times I heard about this effect. Its really depressing. This is my first year outside of Lebanon and allready I cant tolerate the life here. The People here are too cold, I get a shiver when I pass by them. Its sick.
