Icon3 Education and culture.... - 19th December 2006

We have been to school.
We attended a lot of courses, memorized trillions of lines, made tons of homeworks, projects....

Putting aside what you learned in books, what kind of education or culture the school you attended to gave you?

For instance, some schools are more oriented to develop the spiritual aspect of the student's personnality, others focus on sportive side.

Some force their students to be on the top level at whatever cost this might take, others simply asks them to make their best.

Some schools abide by a unified "costume", others give the liberty for their students to choose what to wear...

Not all students have the same interaction with this sort of formation.

Above are just a few criterias that might affect a student's personnality. You might, and probably will, find many other.

Starting with myself:

Schools where i was had a relevant importance to spiritual issues.... a rather exagerated importance. That worked fine on me until i ... finished school !

I have then been to the lebanese university. Needless to say that this required hard personal effort to profit from it, so it made me more self-dependent and prepared me to approach more difficult situations (to which am not 'supposed to be' prepared) in a rather relax temper.

The school where I went was pretty strict regarding religion ... this created a sense of discipline however. Similarly to you mephisto, it worked until I left school or should I say it worked after I finished school?

We didn't have any costume, we could dress up the way we wish but respecting what the profs deemed suitable. Once, I wore a Harley-Davidson t-shirt, with one of those bad boys with long hair on a bike, I had to wear it the other way around for the whole day because "those are dirty people with stinking hair" according to my math teacher.

Cheers,

I am grateful that I didn't go to a religious school, I went to a french secular school. Religion wasn't a topic!

It wasn't that strict, there was no unified costume.
