Feeding you is not the problem, growing within the company is. If you stay in IT, you will not pass to the next level and that is where more money comes in. If you are a programmer, you will remain a programmer until some Indian comes with 1/5th your paycheck doing twice your work.

Anyway, it really up to the person whether he/she likes to work as a technical or not. But mostly high rated technical people with some business knowledge (provided by MBA for example) end up being Managers (IT Mangers and other division Managers...)
Correct, but taking Oracle lessons and licenses do not help you become a manager. You will be better in what you in that field and limiting yourself in growth prospects within the company.

Nope, you may think so, but there are billion others especially in India who are stamping Oracle in their foreheads and coming out of the assembly line making less money than you while working twice as much. Do not limit yourself by becoming a programmer. Think big and think smart. Your job is to hire bunch of programmers and manage them, but not necesarily BE the programmer.

Good luck

I don't really know if it's the case with everyone or just me.
I am a web developer and i really like my job and never worked or thought about doing something else.

It's a well paid job and your skills are your certificates, papers don't really play a big role when you are skilled + you are not forced to work to anyone, freelancing is an option.

I have a weird but successful story, when you succeed to make the internet your main knowledge source all that "post" and "certificates" will fade away and knowledge and money become unlimited.

Just focus on the goal and not the way, that's what i do and i certainly don't regret it.
