Default Want to Get Tanned? - 7th June 2008

Lebjournal.com-It is summer time, All girls love to go to beaches to get their bodies tanned under the beautiful summer sun. But some of the girls like to get their bodies tanned before they go to the beach or during winter time, what would they do?

Girls are so creative so they will always try to find solution s for their problems. Companies take these ideas into consideration and produce the products that would sell a lot among the female part of the society. So companies produced products and machines that will solve this problem. The products produced was a cream that the female would put on her body for a period of time, then after that her body will have the tan she wanted. But there are machines that produce the same result within little period of time.

but what is it called? How it works?

Solarium tanning: is using a machine to tan the human body. The person has to sleep in that machine and the professional operator of that machine closes the machine on the human body. In few minutes, the whole body will be tanned from head to toe. A lot of people, especially females, use solarium tanning to tan their bodies either in winter or before they go to the beaches in summer time or if they don’t want to go to the beach during summer time..

But is solarium tanning and these tan creams healthful?

Some would say yes, but the answer is clearly NO. Many people have tried solarium tanning and the tan creams, and it affected them severely. Their negative effects in the near future would be some, but they would be serious if we look deep in the future. The negative effects of solarium tanning would be some severe burns on some body parts such as the face, stomach, legs, or even arm pits. These burns would be cured within few weeks or month. These are not the only bad effects. Solarium tanning and tan creams would cause some people skin cancer that they would suffer from for the rest of their lives. Skin cancer would lead to the death of the person who has it. So, is it worse to risk your life because you want to tan your body?

I guess a body tan is not worth to risk our lives and I guess that would be a good reason so that we don’t undergo solarium tanning and don’t use tan creams. But if we want to get a body tan, we can go to the beach and have a nice sun bath and that is the best and safer way in which we can have a body tan. If we don’t sun bath on the beach for too many hours the we don’t risk our lives and every can have the body tan that he\she wants.

Actually in medical terms, the 'tanned' colour the skin gets is just the biological response to fix damaged skin cells...i.e.Tan=damage

So yeah I agree, it's far healthier not to tan. You're sexy with or without, trust me.

Actually tanned skin is a "defence barrier" against sun light damages. Skins that tan easily without getting sunburnt are less likely to develop skin cancers than those who burn with little tanning.

Anyway it's a cumulative damage, it starts as a baby , so beware , children should wear UV proof Tshirts when out of the water, sun screen cream should be renewed every two hours and every time you get out of the water, take high indices 60+, and put a thick layer, otherwise it's useless? and never expose yourselves at midday hours...

Think about artificial tanning , it gives a nice carnation if done by pro( kind of shower with pigments that give a nice skin color). NO SOLARIUM, some are even worst for the skin than the real sunlight, especially when the lamp gets a little old

Whenever you notice any abnormally looking skin lesion, don't hesitate in consulting your dermatologist.... whom you should see once a year specially if you have a big number of nevus

Yes, it's both damaged and a barrier. The sun tan is the result of epidermis injury (top skin layer), once that occurs you get increased production of melanin -causing the darker late tan- which protects the deeper skin layers, to prevent further damage.

Using a strong suncreen index is v.imp as you said, still most people don't know and use 10 or 20 which is next to useless.

Actually the greatest risk an average person accumulates for skin cancer is between ages 0-2y...so most of all, protect your babies.

Because they don't think with the "what's good for me" mind, but rather with the "how do i look". That's why they keep chopping, stuffing, and burning. Too bad they're risking dying young and not getting enough time to keep up the work.

A nice solarium tan comes with a nice cancer. The only healthy way to get a tan (for those dying to get one ) is to spray it on. This is the new trend.

There is no campaign for nothing in Lebanon except the things that harm you of course. In Australia they keep warning you from the sun to the point where many people have vitamin D deficiency lol. Less than SPF 30 is useless here. The Cancer Council in Australia develops its own products.

Sunscreen

In Lebanon they're all for the tanning lotion. And they even make their own with olive oil and carrot juice lol.

it's by common sense! now, if you meant how did it became so, my answer would be that stupidity is a worldwide phenomenon!

Now, anybody knows how to avoid that tan color and most of all the peeling that comes after?

and plz some practical suggestions, not the usual "no effect" lotions, nor some extreme ideas like this one or this one :D

Baddak tet7ajjab, sorry there is no other option :D. Wear SFP 30+ sunscreen. I hate it when my colour changes. I tried to restore the natural colour for awhile by NOT exposing anything to the sun for months unless i had to and if i had to it was protected, so i developed vitamin D deficiancy lol (something i've never had before this experience). But got my colour back. Now i'm trying to get more of the sun. The best way to get a tan is to spray it on, the healthy way. Plus you get an overall even colour, no tan lines which are the best way to turn people off.
