It is social behavior education or sociology backed with the facts of science. Sexual education is an awareness program. When I had sexual education, it wasn't the lessons that made me want to have sex, it was my next door neighboring girl.

I remember in grammar school we didnt have a special sex education course, only once a nurse came with info flyers and booklets separately to the girls and boys. The emphasis was not on the biology of sex, but on the biology of human body, hormons, the period, and prevention.
I think such an info day is enough, otherwise in biology we study about how the human body functions.
Biology of sex is OK; but I don't think it will help the young ones relate to sex personally, in other terms it is not enough.

The main topics must be prevention of diseases and contraception, as well as stressing on the fact that although sex is not a taboo, but it is not a foolish game as well.

The major part that should be brought to youngsters in the sexual education is the responsibility that comes with it.

I see that most "religious" members here are against sexual education.

I must have gone to the wrong school it seems!

The sex classes we had were ooooh boring!

Well science is important, but in my opinion it is not enough. Scientific approach alone won't solve you crucial problems that are related to sex and especially at a young age such as diseases, teen pregnancies, having sexual complexes.....

And don't tell me some girls have sex because they didn't know what they were doing :) Nowadays everyone knows how sex is made, why the classes?
Ennou do you think that teenagers are waiting the sexual educations classes to be curious and interested on those issues?

Of course not !

I think that those classes are rather positive for this kind of audience because it's good to have scientific and medical orientation from qualified people on subjects they see on TVs and internet ...

I dont believe in educating kids sexually. Can we preserve some innocence? Although I know it is rarity nowdays.

Indeed its all about education, but not sexual education, rarther a proper discipline by the parents from an early age on. And then believe me there will be no sexual problems as teen pregnancy or diseases.
As for sexual complexes if arise, theres the psychologist, as it is a soul problem.

That's what I wanted to say, I couldn't express my ideas so well as you did, Salome.

Of course yes. Children don't know what sex means untill you tell them. If you tell a child or a young teenager how things work between mom and dad, they will be curious to try it, specially when you teach them that sex feels great. A child doesn't have to know this. All they have to know from parents is that it is natural to fall in love but physical displays of affection can wait till they reach at least 18 years old.

Well kids is quiet a vague word to be used without specifying its meaning. If you mean by kids 6 - 10 year olds, then yes I agree with you it is early for them to learn about sex. But anything older than that fits already the proper age for sexual communication.

Proper sexual education must prevent sexual complexes and the endless appointments at the shrink.

Of course it is about sex, we are not teaching them how to make Mloukhiye or Mhallabiye.

But my point is that the important part here is not to have sex, but to have education. It fits in the same category as educating your kids not to use drugs, not to drink and drive.....

The "religious" are not against any form of education if it's done properly.

Diseases, teen pregnancies and sexual complexes are not scientific? Those you want to teach kids don't need sex classes. Science does the biology and anatomy perfectly well. The other form of education comes from other classes ;). Kam fal2a will do the job perfectly well lol.
