Default Pope's comments on Islam - 15th September 2006

yes he did. he shouldnt have expressed his point if vue publiclly abojut islam . personnaly i am against jihad - in the islamic sense - and i am not muslim. but i am asgainst attacking muslims or anybody especially in these hard times were we have bin laden and zarkawi... they attack christians and jews and yesterday the pope imitated them ... allah yrham john paul II , he was much wiser

the least i can say , is that his statements were not responsible and not worthy of the great pope image that john Paul II protected during 3 decades

thinking of something is fine, but when your a pope , you cannot say anything publically , cause members of other religions mix what you say and what your followers think. very dangerous

he messed up, should apologize. what do you think?

Just to make things clearer, here is the VATICAN's Official reply:

There is a disease in this world which is linking some few terrorists that follow islam, and Islam in general. Unfortunately, hope this disease didn't reach the pope.

NOTE: Some phrases his said were mistranslated.

Let everybody express himself the way he wants to.
Don't use free of expression to hurt others.

I have the right to criticize Islam...
I have the right to tell my opinion about Islam...
I have the right to oppose some principles of Islam...
As long as im respencting every muslim (Im saying muslim and not terrorist) I have the right to say whatever I want... If the Pope thinks that the Jihad in Islam is wrong he has the right to say whatever he wants. Maybe I have a different point of view from the Pope and I can go and say it.. If I manage to convince more people than good for me.. If I dont than I have weak argumentation skills..
Mich kil ma da2 l kouz bil Jarra someone has to appologize beause he offended Islam.. If Dan Brown wanted to write DA VINCI code part II he's free to do it.. Let people hear the other point of view ;)..

theoratiaclly what you say is true. practically it will make lots of problems. a world figure like the pope needs to watch his language cause it affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

his opinion can reflect positively or negatively on half of the planet. so he has a huge responsability. wisdom should come with respsonsability. what he did was not wise.

John Paul II never did this

I believe the Pope messed up in that one. Freedom of speach is one thing, but when you hold such an important position, specially political, it is important to chose your words very carefully. Freedom of speach was given to the people and it's institutions, not to it's leaders, who have to follow diplomatic ways.

What the Pope said was apparently a quote from a 14th century christian emperor. To what purpose did he quote that man, he didn't say... I think he should cast asside his pride and formaly apologies and give explanations to what he said...

We lebanese are the biggest victims here. The Pope, who represents a big part of our nation, should not mess with the security of his people...

"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

Although he was quoting a 14th century emperor, he didn't say wether he agreed with him or not...
