In case you got it pierced, then please elaborate: How long did it take you for the wound to dry? As it gets infected at first, how long did it take you for the infection to heal? Where do you buy your rings from?
I wonder what force might drive people to mutilate themselves in such a way:):)
Currently I am in montreal and 3 days ago my friends and I saw 2 opposing scenes in just few minutes. the 1st is about a girl having may be half a dozen piercing in each of her ears, one next to her eye and one in her lip, I donno if she did in her tongue too:)
Her look was sickening, at least that's what we felt.
5 minutes later we crossed another nice, elegant young lady, and I can tell you the impact she had on me and my friends. We directly made a comparison.
In my opinion, there is psychological reason behind that...some people just can't make themselves noticed unless they do wierd stuff :):) They are looking for attention, they couldn't obtain it in another way.
This reminds me when we were in our early teenager years, when we used to wear pirate stuff to draw attentions, and appear machos:D:D If this is understandable for 13 or 15 years old kid, I don't know how 18+ girl/guy still make it.

Personally i don't like piercing.
Also my skin is very sensitive and doesn't support any foreign body. I even can not put earrings.

You have a point with the need for attention!

I never felt the urge to have piercing, I am not that mazochist:p And I dont think it would enhance considerably my sexepil:D I can manage without it:D

Default I Love My Piercing!!!! - 13th March 2007

I have my ears pierced, my nose pierced, and my belly button too, and I challenge you DL to comment negatively on any of these... (shame on you :P)

I love my piercings a lot. I got my nose and my belly button pierced on the same day. My nose pierce healed in a week, but my belly button took forever!!!!! I have a sensitive skin that bruises easily and does not heal fast at all, and though I took extensive measures to care for it, the material that my belly ring was made of did not suit my body well... it took many many months to thoroughly heal, and now I just love it!!!!!

What I love about my belly button ring is that it is hidden from everyone's eyes except those very special people who are allowed to look at it :D
I now have a collection of rings exactly like other girls have earrings.

Remember Caramel when I told you about my difficult experience with my belly ring? Yeah... it will eventually heal, but it does take some time. To me, it is worth it.

Tattoos and piercings are just like anything else... Many overdo it with their extravagant call for attention with them... It took me four years of thorough thinking before I got mine done, and I seriously love them... What I like about them is that they are not out there for everyone to feast upon, but are kept for me...

I have been fascinated by belly rings ever since I was a little kid and used to see belly dancers wear them with their costumes...

Even if something is not to my taste, I do not judge people for what they think is cool and what they have done to themselves... kil wa7ad 7or bi7ayetu! I grew up in Africa among tribal tattoos which are the norm to get, and I think, after all, it is a cultural thing like nose rings are in India and its surrounding countries.

To us, earrings are ktir 3adeh, and in other countries belly rings and nose rings are 3adeh too and part of the culture...

(It is funny how we are intolerant of anything that is foreign to us or not to our liking)

Abirrr yeah I remember lol... U know guys you shouldn't really consider it as mazochist (stella I know ur kidding... otherwise I'm comming to pierce ur tongue :P).
Actually I didn't feel it at all when they pierced my belly... I was not even in pain. However it has almost been 6 months since I've done it and it's completely healed.. again it doesn't hurt, but I want to change the jewelry. I loveeee to touch it because it tickles me. But again, u have to take good care of it...

And it looks good on you indeed... You are lucky that yours did not hurt and healed quickly... Not all of us were this lucky as I mentioned in my earlier post...

As for changing the jewelry: I think if you buy good jewelry (Platinum, gold, or sugical steel) then it wouldn't be bad... Just avoid sterling silver because even if looks healed, your piercing might get irritated by it.

well its good to hear u are enjoying ur piercing!

I dont think its a masochist/attention thing either.....each to their own.. i mean, if ur into gaining attention or maschocism, im sure there are better ways of achieving ur goals other than piercings....

I wanted to comment on the infection thing....i have multiple peircings, and although they took from 4wks to 8wks to heal, none of them ever got infected.
the best thing to use to cleanse and aid the healing of piercings is saline (salt water) and the best is the saline solution for contact lenses ( approx $3 for 1 litre) and it should be used as a running stream over the pierced area.
saline is so good because it is easily accepted by the body, and doesnt agitate the punktured skin, which is equivilent to an open wound.

For piercings in the mouth area....tongue, labrett and cheeks, its important to also use a non alcoholic(hard to find) mouth rinse, as any alcohol agitates the pierced site and can lead to infection or at worst, disfigurement.
The use of soaps can also agrivate the piercing site.

Peircings shouldnt take more than 12 weeks to heal max...if they take longer, there may be things wrong, such as a weakened immune system, the quality of jewlery (only surgical quality steel should be used), the sanitation of the tools used to pierce or the after care.

Peircings are great....but they are not for everyone.....lol as some of the replys to this post show...lolololololol
