Default Motivation - 19th November 2006

Motivation refers to the "initiation, direction, intensity and persistence of behavior" (Geen). Motivation is having the desire to do something or to reach something, a goal, a target.. but in most cases, this desire fades away with time.

When you know how to be, and remain motivated, nothing is out of your reach!

Some use religion as their motivation, others rely on their loved ones. What are the methods that you use for you to stay motivated?

Yalla share your secrets with us!

To believe in yourself, that shall be in first hand!

And some faith in goodness would be also desirable!

To reach for something really worth it, not just what everyone else chases.

whenever i feel down or i need to motivate myself i always think about somwthing i read for machiavelli in his replica of suntzu' art of war....

i always keep telling myself, especially in times of crisis, that life is very short. You have to know what is the single most important thing in your life.

hence i should always stay focused on the mission. Everything else is secondary.

i keep telling myself : hey man, don't wait too long for the perfect condition to appear before taking action as there is no such thing as the ideal situation. create the opportunity and make the most of the talent God has given you.
At the end of your life, i want to look back and say
It's been all worthwhile. I have tried my best

Motivation starts within urself... U need to believe in your abilities, have faith in yourself, and straighten it by praying and having self confidence. Once you're sure about yourself, motivation will be increased by challenges and ambitions... following those will motivate you!

Whenever i am in a delicate situation, i just smile and convince myself it could have been worse.... and I thank the Lord for putting me in the situation rather than in a more difficult one!
Just give yourself time to get use to this 'therapy' and you won't be needing further motivation , since you will never feel down.

mainly having faith both in yourself and your Creator
2nd trying to see what will happen when the "down" period is over.. get motivated by the results of what your pain will bring you into, what you are suffering for
3rd challenging yourself
4th and this may be the greatest trick :D.. to know and to be sure that the problems, delicate situations, down periods, etc.. you're going through are only means and tests to make you even stronger and that so if, and only if you manage to surpass them... after all, we all faced problems that's for sure, but don't we all agree that we are left stronger after we conquer the problem?

hey, i just want you to consider the following (it's in french, and i tried to translate it to english) i really found it in direct relation of this topic

When a journalist asked him: "What does it mean to have failed 1399 times before succeeding to invent the electric lamp?", Thomas Edison replied: "I haven't failed 1399 times, I simply discovered 1399 ways of not producing electric current."

Bottom Line: It's all about the way you perceive your failures

In my daily life I try to follow these 3 (wonderful) thoughts:

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." The Bible, Philippians 4:13

"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost. That is where they should be. Now put the foundation under them." by Henry David Thoreau

"Be like a postage stamp. Stick to one thing until you get there." by Josh Billings

What keeps me motivated is the idea of coming back to the jungle called Lebanon after i finish College knowing that i have practically no hope of finding a decent well-paid job, so i gotta work my butt off 24/7 to put all the chances on my side (even if sometimes it looks hopeless).
When things go wrong, eventually they work out just fine, so no need to panic, nor for drama drama drama...and like Mephisto said, it could get a lot worse (just look around you, or better, watch the news ) so i just chill out
