Default Losing Friends because of Politics - 6th February 2009

Since I started This whole Political nonesense a few yrs back I also Started Losing many of my Friends who are on the opposing side and I'm surprized That some of them won't talk to me because I'm a Hezbollah supporter and For some reason I'm accused of Aiding the Shiites against the sunnah and so on...
This is the stress and headache I have to deal with Every single day As I'm stuck between Many Extremist Lebnese Shiite who call me Wahhabi When I try to defend Mainstream islam and I get accused of Being a Shiite By The Brainwashed Sunni Street in Lebanon and recently This has spread to a few relatives which is causing A few problems.
This thread is not about Religion, It is simply about what its title describes and I want to know If anything similar is happening with Others and if there is some Magical Lebanese advice to fix this somehow.

Who cares? Don't talk to idiots and avoid family retards. Easy and simple. Also avoid opening religious topics with the Shiaa you happen to have a political understanding with. It's not important and it would only lead to clashes.

Of course it can't be fixed till Saad perishes somehow.

My advice is to do what I do. 2at3a kart la jame3et 14 walad. I can't value such people and I have no respect for them, unless I have to force it on myself. The friends who have turned phsycos, I don't see much anymore. And if I see them, I avoid politics. Kello rasmiyet :D.

As for family members, those are the ones I bash endlessly. Thankfully, I'm far from them these days. The ones who live where I am share my political views.

It's a problem when you take these things seriously. I find it hard to conceptualize how two people with such differences can live under one roof when your home is supposed to be your sanctuary. What amazes me is the Christian FPM and LF who happen to be married I'd hate his guts. Killo 2ella lpolitics. It defines what type of a person you are.

LF in your family? FM is slightly tolerable, but LF for heaven's sake!

Avoid them! Just don't talk to them w rayye7 rasak.

I would like to hear from those who happen to be living under one roof with political opponents. How do you live your days?

I lived under one roof with a Pure FM supporter, My brother in law In Dubai and I kept putting pro-opposition political analists on TV (or should i say non-14 march analysis) and watching Al-Jazeera MANAR NTV NBN almost all talk shows and he was forced to watch them with me and today after I can clearly say He is a PURE FM HATER he switched totally. Before I used to be in my room all day and he used to be in his, almost no contact at all.

You have a point... The problem is that all the info they get from FM media is pure propaganda and lies; gross. And the greater problem is that they don't watch anything else! I guess I'm just fed up with it all that I can't be bothered anymore... Good on you.

Yep, I'd be one of those lol. There's no way in hell I can tolerate being with a complete opposite. He can make me despise him in two seconds. All it takes is a few Nasrallah hating words and he's gone to his mama bala raj3a.

Tripoli sunni, there's a french saying that i love "vivre et laisser vivre". I never understood why when i am convinced in something i have to impose it on others....I don't feel insecure about my beliefs, so it doesn't bother me if others don't stick to them.
There are two kinds of persons:
1-tolerant persons who can have an intelligent debate, can sometimes agree with you if you have plausible arguements, with those people i can and love to talk politics ,among other subjects of discussion.
2- persons who think that they know THE TRUTH , with whom discussion turns to primitive arguing full of passionate hatered and stubbornness. Well with these people i definitely don't discuss politics nor religion, but i can be friends with them as long as they keep their beliefs to themselves .

Life is too short, truth can have many aspects, being tolerant is to me the most respectful aspect of a human being, a sign of evolution to a better creature.

no magical fix

as a general rule of thumb for me, i don't talk politics with some of my itchy friends.

if they are itchy, i leave them alone, let them do their monologues.
this applies to friends from both sides. really, from both sides i got idiot friends i dont talk politics with.

now, if they are normal ppl with a brain that likes to debate decently, i have no problem. few of my friends are like that though.

as for bashing sessions, i always enjoy those sometimes, with my peeps and against other peeps, i just dont do it if i risk losing friends over it.
better drop the subject rather than turn it contentious.

all in all, if there is no point in talkin about politics with someone then i ignore the issue and move along especially since hearing some of my friends bashing gma doesn't tick me off.

but i hate pretty much freaking hate it when some ppl get it in their heads that they need to preach out loud what they believe in as if they are the messengers of christ..

i short, when it comes to my friends experience has taught me that i respect what they believe in more than most of them respect my stances even though i disagree with them alot and i have no love lost for the politicians they like.

but expecting them all to do the same is pretty much expecting too much.
this is lebanon after all, the lands of the cedars and retards hehe
