because i have compassion for the person in need. I even get tears in my eyes.. This is the love for the human being, we are all brothers...He should live like every other, and i suddenly feel like i have too much in this world in comparaison to the needy. I feel bad that i can eat and that the other can't even taste bread. I feel lucky im walking on my feet and having a roof on top of my head. And then i think of God, and interpret things my way. Lot of injustice in this world and people are caught in trials, they have to find a way to live, to survive, to continue.. If my path met somebody's else, then there is a reason for both of us...Giving and taking... that's the rule of the universe, isnt it? I feel bad for all the populations and i get angry when governments spend millions on wars when these money can save hungry people!!

Changing the subject? No way, how on earth you got to this conclusion?

But show me your "proofs", I am curious you know:p I hope Jesus would agree too with your proofs.

By the way one of my favourites part from John (I already quoted it on this forum, maybe even to you):

"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."

John 21:25

marisha great so you do good for good itself not because of religion or whatever. You do good not because religion pushed you to do good so you get rewarded by heaven, so the religion factor here is not a major factor in you doing good. This makes you purer IMO

This thread is about whether or not someone who professes Christ follows the teachings of Jesus. This thread is NOT about the credibility of the Bible, on which Christianity is based (BTW).

If you sincerely want to know how the Bible proves itself to be God's Word, make a new thread about this.

Yes ... many other things that Jesus DID ... not TAUGHT. Just wanted to point that out to you.

Thank you, If you say so, :) but you know Jesus role helping the needy ones is a major factor here too. As a christian no one forces me to do this, it is a feeling, just like HE did. He wasn't doing it for any religion nor to get into "paradise". He was already the "paradise"...So am I a true religious person following jesus? I don't know. I don't calculate. I do what i feel is right to do, does that make me purer, how can i know. I don't report to anyone but to my heart :) and i thank god for that, my mom, my education, my life experiences....the way i was brought up. Everything counts here and builds who you are... One christian is not like the other ( and so it goes in every religion)
Following jesus, is taking the good from him and living YOUR life, not being conditioned to what this and that says, being afraid of smthg, punishments etc... the saints never feared the evil, and if they were tempted, so they prayed more to reach a higher level of transcendancy. It is power and when you feel that , you don't even think about hell ( going back to ur argument) and fearing it, and doing things "according" to religion. We are not automates. If you don't feel it, even if you follow the teachings, it means nada.

marisha if Jesus did not help the poor, if Jesus's teachings were to leave the poor because they caused this to themselves. Would you still help the poor ?

Ok great khalas this is what I wanted to know

You do good because you like doing good not because Jesus told you to do good or because you are promised heaven or whatever.

I don't know if you get the hidden meaning Mahyar.
Yes, i like doing good, but there is also jesus' hand in it since I am christian. note the relation?
Do you need me to tell you explicitely, bcoz of heaven i do good? No, I don't think it that way. It is not being a good christian then IMO..
I can't omit his influence on me. Maybe i am not a perfect follower as to attending masses each sunday , fasting, but these are just details to me, (some people , christians, might not agree with me on this, but we can open another thread to discuss it), i take from his life what he wanted us to do better, to transcend and try to live as good as i can. As good as he would want man to be.
Why i am thinking like this, it's because i know the differences between a good priest, a bad priest, a true beleiver, a blind beleiver, a fanatic, a sinning priest, exorcisme, the presumed materialised devil presence, i have seen it all. Lot of truth and lot of lies. I don't like when man (church) play with jesus' words. And i contest the fear factor ( hell, sin, punishment) to make you follow jesus. It was never his way to "promote" himself like that. When you fall in love with someone, no one forces you to. it's the same with having jesus' love. If you feel it, YOU KNOW by yourself what to do! doing good not bad... It's beyond words..it's not mathematics.. Jesus wasn't thinking of a bargain, but he continued doing what he did. helping people. He didn't escape death although he could. That love for his sons has no explanation. That's why i don't explain why i do good. It is indirectly the nature of humans and in my faith the nature of jesus. So everything is connected and interdependant .. Is it clearer now? ;)
