I just found this informative video/map how the geography of religion has evolved over the centuries, and where wars between different religions have sparked (Muslim conquests, Crusades, Israel foundation...). It'sa brief history of the world's most well. 5,000 years of religion in 90 seconds.

The same site also has another video about the imperal history of the middle east and the successive empires that have conquered it:

You can probably spot the mistake at the end when they state that Lebanon got its independence in 1946 instead of 1943.

Nice thread LC, you think that map is done changing? Probably not. As for Lebanon, it seems that it's losing and gaining independance every decade or so...

Thanks GJC. No that map isn't done changing but I expect it to be a lot less homogeneous in the years to come, especially in the West. With the new development in communications and technology, the internet and the huge numbers of immigrants regions these regions contain people of all races, religions....
