Default Forbidden/allowed food/drink according to different religions (pork, alcohol...) - 24th May 2007

There is something I wanna ask about. I know muslims can't eat porc and my jewish friend told me jews also can't eat porc... My question is: Christians can eat porc? or are they forbidden as well? I have no clue..

Yes, Christians can eat pork and whatever they want. All animals were created by God. Contrary to Jews or Muslims, sins are born in men's heart, they have nothing to do with the animals you eat.

It's not about sins Claudia. It's a health issue . Certain religions put boundaries as to what they see good for human health. It's not about God or faith, it's for your own self .

I am glad you talked about this, Dalzi. I wanted to ask this for sometime ago:
What's the problem with eating pork in Denmark (or Sweden)? It's a cold weather, I don't see why Muslims or Jews can't eat pork there, except for religious rules.
Thanks

Yes, religion says no. But why does it say no?

For scientific reasons. Because pork isn't healthy . Pork contains around 19 "basic" species of worms some of which are only found in dogs and rats.

The mere idea can push you away, especially if you happen to be a person who avoids even coffee because it's not healthy.

Oh how nice! Thank you.
I don't drink much but my favorite wins are from the north of italy. I like Barbaresco but the cream of crop is Barolo (Giacomo Conterno)

.

Claudia, pork is considered an unclean meat in Christianity too. It's unhealthy for you thats all. For example, I love to eat prosciutto, but I'm not going to hell for it, just unhealthy. Maybe in Islam it's a bigger deal, Dalzi should know more about that, but in Christianity it's simply unhealthy and that's why you shouldn't eat it among other foods.
