Post Fashion Statement for teens by Javed Habib - 17th October 2006

Wearing the right kind of make-up is an art! And only an artist can teach you the tricks of the trade. Every skin tone and skin type has to be groomed in a particular way to look great, glowing and absolutely stunning.

What you may like, wear or experiment with might not suit your skin type. Hair stylist and make-up expert, Jawed Habib, has a few valuable tips he would like to share with you, helping you carry the look that is most suitable for your skin tone…

He explains, “Once you realize what suits your face and skin type, half the battle is won! As far as wearing make-up the right way is concerned, it can be learned and will definitely come to you by practice”.

His advice for girls who have…

Fair Skin
Always do up your eyes with lots of gold blended, warm tones like hot pink and wine shades.
Do your lips in lip colour of a dark shade like browns and maroons.
On your cheeks, always apply two shades: out of which one is a darker blush-on (which is one shade darker than your skin tone).

Dark Skin
Always do up your eyes in neutral shades and matte cosmetics.
Do your lips in earthy tones with a gloss.
Always apply a light blush-on when it comes to your cheeks.
These are a few basic pointers one should keep in mind while doing their make-up.

Jawed also suggests some rules one can follow, which are…
1. People with dark skin should always use light shades of make-up.
2. People with fair skin should always try and use brighter tones and shimmers.
3. People with wheatish skin should try and use earthy and matte tones.
4. People with fair skin should blend their eye make-up well and avoid using dark eyeshades or eye pencils.
5. People with dark skin should avoid reds or plums as their lip colour. Only earthy and matte shades should be used by them.
6. People with wheatish skin can experiment and have an advantage. They can opt for bright tones and dark coloured eye pencils. Also deep lip colour with a matching gloss is suited for their lips.
So next time you are ready to step out to look your best, keep this valuable advice in mind; it’s sure to help!
