"El neder " what is it ?

in this period, i have been witnessing girls, disguised as the virgin mary, when i ask people why, they tell me "nedra".
nome other people grow a beard for a long time as a "neder"
Others walk barefooted as a "neder"

what is the meaning of the neder, i see it as a trading deal, from commerial minds with god, isn't it immoral, and illogical to have "khadamet" from god?

and what is the reason of making a fool out of yourseleves, disguisig as religious figures, or doing unnecessary punishments ?

Interesting ! You dont know what a Neder is !

A Neder is a promise ,to do an "action" in the future in case of something that is good for you happened.
Example: I say if the results of the blood test i had was good i have a neder that i pay to feed 3 orphans. When the results came negative , i had to feed the three orphans because i have a neder for God to do so.

If you are a muslim here is a verse from the quran:

وَمَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّن نَّفَقَةٍ أَوْ نَذَرْتُم مِّن نَّذْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ يَعْلَمُهُ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
Bakara

This means you can do Neder.

However , like you said there are some weird people doing weird Neders like growing a beard or fasting for one year ...etc

لكي نعرف أصل النذر والنذير يجب أن نقرأ الفصل السادس من سفر العدد في الكتاب المقدّس.

النذر، سواء كان صاحبه رجل أو إمراة، هو عمل تطوّعي تكريسي يقدّم لله خضوعاً له، وكان النذر لمدة معينـة محدودة، وكانت شروط النذير كما بلي:

Man if you think that the person who makes a fool out of himselve because he is wearing a religious look,i urge you consider your stands and choice because it is inappropriate to consider persons who really belive in something religious that they are doing,fools.

I completely agree with I AM LEBANON.

Why should one be good unless the thereby attains happiness in this life or else the promise of such in the after-life? As we have always seen, the categorical imperative commands us to be good irrespective of any payoff. Here we have, of course, the age-old conflict between duty and self-interest. The duty part says there must be a categorical imperative, while the self-interest part says that there are only hypothetical imperatives (do such and such if you want to gain this or that).
