I think its just a matter of time when people grow out of bad habits and also turn for more environmental friendly solutions.

More points:

Driving a car in Lebanon.
Eating junk food.
Swimming in the Red Sea.
Taking an airplane.
Not going through STD testing.

Anyhow, you want to call me an ignorant just because I smoke.

So are the following smokers ignorant:
_ Albert Einstein
_ Thomas Edison
_ Alexander Bell
_ Robert Oppenheimer
_ Edwin Hubble
_ Sigmund Freud
_ Winston Churchill
_ George Orwell
_ Bill Clinton
_ Oscar Wilde
_ Jean-Paul Sartre
_ J.R.R Tolkien
_ Mark Twain
_ Albert Camus
_ John Lennon
_ Frank Zappa
_ Vincent van Gogh
_ Alfred Hitchcock
_ Pablo Picasso
_ Che Guevara

If I am not mistaken, each one of those is 100 times more intelligent than you and I are. Smoking might be a sign of carelessness in the eyes of the public, but definitely not ignorance as you call it.

Not that I am trying to prove the opposite, smoking in itself has NOTHING to do with intelligence, a smoker can be Picasso or the next idiot down the street. It is just irrelevant, and you people should do something better than to abase other people for smoking. We know the risks, and we are taking them on our own responsibility. We are not looking for compassion and sympathy, and especially people nosing down in what is not their business after all.

Im not calling you ignorrent cause you smoke, Im calling you ignorant because you ignore medical facts,.

About your list
Driving a car in Lebanon. Driving is a necessity, Smoking is not,

Eating junk food. Is safe in moderation, Smoking is not,

Swimming in the Red Sea. Do you swim in the red see 20 times a day,

Taking an airplane, Do you fly once a day

Not going through STD testing, You can live for up to 25 years now with anti-virals for HIV, How long you recken youl live once diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, ?

About the names you listed, Most of them lived pre-90s and even in the 90s We did not know back then what we know ''NOW'' about smoking,

Do what you want,

I have been smoking from 10 years,I smoke 12 to 15 cigarettes a day .

If you are a non-smoker please never fall in it,,,,,it is really annoying, especially when u have to stop your work just to breath some smokes
,or when u start thinking of it before finishing ur meal when eating.
Or when u never enjoy a cup of alcohol without smoking.
Or when ur out of cigarettes and you feel that ur body really needs it!!!
Duh I hate it!!!!

If you wanna stop smoking read my post very well:

I was a smoker for about 18 years, and I stopped smoking 4 months ago.

I can tell you this, ever since i stopped smoking, I feel the difference in my everyday life. This year was the very first year since 18 years where I could smell the coming spring. All smokers loose a big part of their sense of smell. Flowers smell so much nicer when you don't smoke, grass smells much stronger as well, and the nicest part is after the first rain, where you smell the wet ground. All those smells you miss them when you are a smoker.

After I stopped smoking, I can swim and run longer without having my breath cut after a short while. I can go up the stairs much easier than before, not to mention other more naughty activities, where the performance gets much much better.

I know it is very hard and god knows how many times I tried to stop smoking before finally succeeding this time. As long as you are weak in front of the cigarette, you will invent for yourself all kinds of reasons to keep smoking, but once you have the strong will to reject it completely, then you will see how wrong you were.

Smoking causes all kinds of bad diseases that will kill you and even harm or kill the people near you, this is a fact and there is nothing to discuss here. If you don't care about your life and the life of the people near you, go ahead and smoke, you will be just another one contributing to population reduction in the world.

I smoked before around 30cig a day,I would like to quit but i just can't i feel so angry when i don't i know many say it is in your mind only and i think it is true as when i am in a country which you have to pay like 12 dollars the packet you think twice before smoking it all besides that cig are banned in public places in many countries and even in pubs and even outdoors if covered so now i smoke less like 15 cig a day..but unfortunately in lebanon cig are so cheap that many lebanese people smoke lots cause it is affordable and you have the freedom to smoke in many places..so i hope that one day the cost of packet rises and be banned in many places so that people start smoking less...

lady_forever;

Since we share the same last name we must be related. That's why I decided to give you some tips.

What most people think is that quitting smoking is hard because it is an addiction, well let me tell you that is not as bad as it sounds. The hardest part in smoking is not the addiction, but rather the habit. The day you feel strong enough to take the risk and quit smoking, you have to do it simultaneously with changing your "smoking" habits.

When I decided to stop smoking 4 months ago, I did it simulateously with a 2 week holiday trip. In all those 2 weeks maybe I felt it just a couple of times the need to smoke, and it was much easy to overcome.

Just when I came back home and back to my daily habits, this is where I started feeling the urge to smoke more, but the worst time was already gone in those 2 weeks away from home. So the strong will not to touch the cigarettes was enough to prevent me from smoking again.

Another crucial point is, if you live with a smoker at home, it is almost impossible to stop smoking. When you stop smoking you shouldn't have any easy access to cigarettes at all.

In addition to all the health disasters that come with smoking and the huffing and puffing of a twenty+ like a ninty+, smoking makes your teeth yellow and your lips brown.
