Well yes if the girl wasn't sure of his serious intentions towards her i doubt she would be wasting her time with him! so it's no surprise! it's just a ritual...
Because it's not something surprising, there's no need to fool ourselves into believing that we've delivered one hell of a surprise.

It's a special moment in people's lives and as such they want to make it memorable. It has nothing to do with cultures western or eastern but more with how a person wants to look back at that particular moment and remember it.
If I were to choose between the two options you presented I would say it's nice to increase a bit the dose of romanticism in your heart. Though it may not alter the real facts but it does create a special feel. Think of it like you get a nice gift from a special person, a gift that you truly liked. Which would you prefer, Have it wrapped in newspapers or in nice gift wrapping paper?
Another thing Dalzi you must remember is that all in love is fair. And love is a fascinating emotion. Couples lick each other's ice cream and go wow. You cant imagine how difficult a task us cynics have to undertake to keep all these lovelorn smitten people's feet on the ground.

And I dont think Boiler is just inquiring for the sake of curiosity. He sounds like he is madly in love and doesnt want to show his hand so conspicuously.

**** Using the word wrapping reminded me of when I was first learning english. I went to the super market and the shopkeeper asked me what I was looking for and I said: Raping paper.

Don't know... All I could say from experience is that I heard the proposal in all its forms so many times directly and indirectly, that it would've been so lame to say it again.

That's sweet, I think I should be brainstorming some ideas instead of being cynical.

My parents took us to lebanon first time after years when I was 11. I walked into a shop in the south to ask for "liquid paper". I told the old man "3endak liquid paper?" He said "shou?" I told him "liquid paper" He said "sho7ayta?" (a thong [not the underwear] in a southern accent).

That raping paper thingy could've lead you to jail, you gotta be careful what you say.

I am of the opinion that you should chill out a bit and try to take a less ascetic approach to certain matters. A colourful world is much more pleasant to look at than one that is either good or bad. There is no excitement in such a world when the fascination could only come from the degrees in between.
It's not just enough to say live and let live but the beauty of exchanging ideas is that we might be alerted to things we never thought about, something that shakes a bit what we have been used to. Some ideas could be fun, some could be beautiful and some are simply not who and how we are. Yet each has its own merits.

If Mozart could write great music about death then everything could have more than one side to it.

IMO.

Proposal? it definitely has to be something memorable, no matter what it is:

- He takes me hicking to Qornet el sawda and proposes on top of the mountain
- We go to Bunny Island for a picnic and...
- A boat trip, during the day, or during a party at night
- The place where we first met could also be a nice idea
- While at a dinner or a party somewhere, he takes the singer's microphone and poposes outloud infront of the whole restaurant (i.e: i'll surely hide under the table )

Cheers

You ask her if she would like to take a flight with you over some parts of Lebanon to enjoy the view.
She accepts.
Now, you take the plane(a Cessna probably), and the wedding ring is in your pocket.

Your friends reaching Faryya by now

So, the flight begins, and whenever you reach Farayya( already had an agreement with pilot), you
start looking for the sign.
You find it, she sees it too by your help.

It's a big ''WILL YOU MARRY ME?'' made in the snow.

She smiles, you bring out the ring.
She says yes and you hug each other.

What do you think of that?
I reckon every plan that ends in "she says yes and you hug each other" is a good one.

Hiking is great, that way you dont get to see the garbage dump on the side of the road from the Cedars to top.

It's killing me to know what those dots might stand for.

During a party? Why cant you just go to the wharf and skip the party?

Dont tell me it was love at first sight. I just finished watching Pride and prejudice.

Is it because you assume that other people care about your affairs or you guys are exhibitionists?

Why do you hide under the table? Doesnt that kind of defeat the purpose by you trying to scupper something that was your idea, or, at least, thought about it, in the first place?

You know what else you can do, now that you have contacts in the media try to get a TV station to put a 3ajel saying "your gfs name, will you marry me?-zodiac" or something like that
