| The color green -

Green is the vegetal, it's the awakening of the primordial waters, it's the awakening of life. On the flip side, green is jealousy or envy (green-eyed monster) . Green is the feng shui color of renewal, fresh energy and new beginnings. Vishnu is represented under the form of a green turtle and according to Fulcanelli, the Indian Goddess of the philosopher stone has a green body such as the Venus of Phidias.
The first magnetic agent wich is used to prepare the Alchemical solvent is called "The Green Lion" not so much because it is green by color but because it has not yet acquired those mineral characteristics. It is a *green and sour fruit* compared with the *ripe and red fruit*.....
Others have called it the Philosopher's Emerald, the Dew of May, the Vegetable Stone and the Herb of Saturn (which color is dark green-- Satan on a glasswork of the Cathedral of Chartres has a green skin and big greeneyes), and also Red is a male color, green a female one. In the Chinese thought it is the Yin and the Yang, one is male, impulsive and red, the other is reflexive and green. The equilibrium of one and of the other, and that is all the secret of the equilibrium of the human being and of nature.
For the Christians, Green is the color of Hope.. In Hinduism , Green is used to symbolically represent the fourth, heart chakra (Anahata). In Celtic myths the Green man was the God of fertility. For Muslim the color is also green . It means Redemption. It's the symbol of all the richness- material as well as spiritual- It's also the symbol of Knowledge. Saints are clothed with Green. It is said the the coat of Mohammad was green. (see for instance the flag of Saudi Arabia --Keeper of the Muslim faith--- it's green ). Green is also the color of American money. In this way, it takes on a different aspect of growth, in this case representing the growth of a personal empire or fortune.
Have you heard of "Khidr"? That means the Green man in Arabic. He is patron of travelers and he incarnates Divine Providence. He represents that measure of human Order linking the High and the Low, or to put in better words "as above, so below". Khidr is the figure of the Initiate , of the "companion on the road", of the one who may show you the Path of Truth under absurd appearances. And then he disappears, after he has renders you a service. According to some he is one of the son of Adam (please notice the interesting connection as the word Adam come from "dam" = blood= red) Often he is connected with St -George, also with Elie. In India he is revered as "Kwawadja Khidr" and he is represented sitting on a fish and he alsoreigns on the vegetation Kingdom.
Green takes on a mythical value which is the one of Green Pastures. The"green Erin" is the name of Ireland, the happy island of the Celtic world.It is said that green is the most restful color for the human eye. Some claim that green has great healing power. It can soothe pain. Suicides dropped 34% when London's Blackfriar Bridge was painted green.
Persephone is green : in autumn she returns to the Underworld since she atea grain of Pomegranate . This grain is her heart, the inner fire of Earth which conditions allregenerescence: it's the inner Red of the Green Persephone. Osiris is green, he was killed and did resuscitate by the doing of Isis, the Red.
The Graal is a vision of emerald. I cannot but mention "la langue verte" (the Green Language).According to some Gothic art is simply a corruption of the word "argotique" Notice the connection with "argonauts" , the ship "argo".
