Coffee Addiction & Health Risks - 16th September 2005

I was waiting yesterday to meet someone, and i came accross an article from National Geographic with regards to Cafeine consumption in the world.
It made me stop and think. We have truly become the Starbucks generation. we cant start our day without our favourite drug, yes cafeine... we cant keep on going without our favourite drug as well...
is it addiction, or just a ritual?
i thought i would share this thought with u guys. And then, after my meeting i went out grabbed a French vanilla floavored coffee, and a chocolate brownie...nothing changes For me, i consume between 4-5 doses of cafeine a day.
how about u?
Addiction or Ritual???

I think both.
When you do it ritually well that is an addiction already.
5 coffe a day is definitely an addiction!
But I see a lot of people just doing it as a ritual (like my all family members), but they would be just fine without that coffeine, but people just need that bubble that their day couldn't begin before a coffee.

Sadly, it has become a disease in society today. People drink it without even realizing the negative effects, only the one positive one. It's like a drug, you take it to cure one thing, but it causes a lot more side effects. It's taken over many people's lives and become so common that it's no problem, even if teens drink it.

I strongly dislike Starbucks, the kind of coffee they sell, how they sell it and coffee in general. I don't understand how a person could enter this fluid into his/her body, it's disgusting, people need to calm down and get some sleep or excercise a bit. I don't want to get started on Starbucks, it sickens me, they have a shop in every location you could imagine, it's an unrelenting force that can't be defeated, it does no service to society by opening all of these shops. I understand that that's an advantage of capitalism, but that's too much, when you can't control your greed.

I apologize if I sound a bit crazy and radical, but I don't understand why anybody would pay more money than a child earns working in a sweatshop making shirts for you to wear, for a terrible tasting drink like flavored coffee.

What language is this in, this is a joke, It's what they do to appeal to the people to make it seem as if it's some exoctic flavor, but it's just a bunch of sugar thrown in a cup and maybe with a topping of cream.

diablo

my fellow chemist

research addiction from a hollistic pov and you will see that u are not addicted to coffee

nor are alcoholics addicted to alcohol

nor are druggies addicted to drugs

nor are LFPM bravados like me addicted to LFPM

we are merely all addicted to the same thing, ..

it is the sensation that is triggered in the body and in the mind and in the inteaction of mind and matter when thiss or that or anything else (drugs, hamburgers, donuts, cookies, alc, cofee, sex, women, expressons, women again, l badak yeh)

our subconscious becomes addicted to the sensation .. the sensation and not the thing itself

and this is where the danger and the opportunity lies

now you know :) s odo do something about it

bodhi,

I kind of look like that guy, except with black hair, believe it or not. And a bigger nose.
