And you are lecturing Bepseh? Whether his mentality is backwards in your opinion or anybody else's opinion in that matter, it is his opinion after all.
Bepseh is not alone in the way he thinks... he is a member of a majority in Lebanon... he believes in the right to preserve his honor, and would go to the extreme of killing to do that.
When Kamikaze says "God help her," how different is it from killing? Is dragging her through courts and making a big deal in society out of it different from actually killing her? I am not saying it is the same here, but I am suggesting that different people have different methods of punishment.
If society finds out that Bepseh's wife is cheating on him, he'll be butchered alive! He'll be always humiliated in his circle, because this is the society that he was brought up in and got his beliefs from! To him, the death of his wife, is more tolerable than his social death! Do not argue with me about this point, cause this is not my idea, but rather the idea of a large portion of the Lebanese society.
Stop attacking Bepseh for this... try to fundamentally change Society with education.
Bepseh's crime (which he still has not commited yet--thank God) does not differ from the crime of the father who kills his daughter for loosing her virginity...
I once read of a father who killed his 6 month old baby cause she was crying sooo hard by banging her head against the wall. He got frustrated with her and killed her. The Lebanese court did not force him to stand trial, and proclaimed it an accidental death!
I am not supporting Bepseh with his idea. Bepseh, I think your claim is unnecessary, and you need to realize that you need to change this way of thinking. If you cannot tolerate the bad and the good that might result from a marriage, do not get married... If you are not willing to take the risks, do not gamble. You do not want to terrorize the poor girl you wish to marry. Afterall, this is a crime... anyway you look at it. I invite everyone to take one step back, and look at the Lebanese society that is still engrossed in such a mentality.. It is time to change all that. That is the main reason I want to become a teacher.
