Default Being a vegetarian - 1st October 2009

Anybody here who is vegetarian?

How did you become so? Is it worth? What are the positive and negative sides of it?
Did you notice any changes in your health (both positive or negative)?

yes I know these types of videos, where I live the protesters for animal rights put even more graphic videos for the people in DT on a main squere, it is so shocking!!

Well I dont use any furs, and try to use articles from leather as little as possible (if I think it is only my shoes, my bag and my purse)...I dont eat pork or beef, or any other type of animal meat (and nothing from the sea!!!! yuck) except chicken and turkey. It is so hard to renounce chicken meat, as this is the only meat I eat, and with vegetables I also dont eat everything...so I dont know what would be the health risks of eating some vegetables only?

My better half is a vegetarian, and her sister/brother-in-law are worse: they're vegans, i.e., no fish, eggs, milk, cheese, etc... Nothing remotely related to meat.

If you're going to be vegetarian, you have to do it right or else the consequences can be dangerous. You must have a good balance of legumes, fruits, and cereals (7boub). The irony in all of this is, it's not enough to eat vegetables. Vegetables have to be eaten raw or cooked in a specific way to keep their nutritional values. They say if you eat half a teaspoon of sesame every day is the equivalent of one cup of milk. Wrong. Sesame has to be powered to get its benefits or else it's just gonna come into your mouth and out of ____ without any good. ti ti ti ti, mitel ma re7ti jiyti.

If anybody is considering becoming vegetarian, or worse, vegan and macrobiotic, be very careful how you do it or risk getting malnourished and numerous deficiencies.

So you experienced it in your family, do you see them having any health problems?
Is it true that originally humans were built to be vegetarian rather? And you mentioned the sesame... I read black sesame is very healthy and has a high nutrition value, but how one eats that in what form?

In all honesty, on paper vegetarianism looks great and healthy. In reality, we are exposed to all kinds of Sh!t every day and everything you buy is tainted. Even fresh vegetables are not in their purest form unless you buy 100% organic (i.e, not even fertilizers, pure H2O, etc...).

My sister-in-law and her husband and her son are thin, yet they have health problems like every one of us. Her son has Arrhythmia (Irregular Heartbeat), her stomach is very sensitive and gets sick at anything she eats outside her diet...

This is why I won't abide by such a diet because it won't make a significant difference. Also, vegans only live 7 months more than carnivores like me. At the age of 80, I can't wait to get out of here and meet my maker so being a vegetarian would only put me on hold for the extra 7 months. Not having steak for 80 years or 960 months to get an extra 7 months? Nah... the return on investment is too small.

I think it looks like this:

In traditional Chinese medicine, black sesame seeds have sweet and neutral properties, and are associated with the Kidney and Liver meridians. They function to tonify yin jing and blood, moisten the intestines, and help build the spirit, or shen.

Black sesame seeds are an extremely good source of calcium; studies have shown that one gram of seeds contains approximately 85 milligrams of calcium. Black sesame seeds also have high amounts of protein, phosphorous, iron and magnesium. In some patients, black sesame seeds are used to help patients recover from serious illnesses and fevers, treat constipation and promote regular bowel movements. Some practitioners recommend using black sesame seeds with polygonum to keep a person's hair looking rich and dark.

hmm yeah am afraid if the diet is not versatile enough it would lead to several health problems...but eating lot of meat is also not healthy especially steaks, no?:D

If these videos don't make one a vegetarian, I don't know what else does.

It's all about eating a well-balanced diet. Don't go to extremes. Do you know which cuisine is the best if you stick to it?
