I have just returned after 2 weeks of vacation in Lebanon.
What i noticed is a hate against FPM and specially from those who don't follow a specific party or leader. Not to mention some FPMers who didn't hesitate to insult FPM.
These people were Pro FPM last year
Some will tell that this is caused by the FTV, LBC, etc. propaganda. But in my opinion there is a problem that will cost FPM a lot in the next elections.
Maybe i am wrong and the ~100 person that i talked to don't represent a good sample.
Time will tell us !

Regards, | What happened between last year and this year that made FPM lose supporters?
I tend to believe that older events happened and discredited FPM a bit, but after the Doha, I believe FPM is on the rise. | | | | | Orange Room Moderator

Kermel Allah, yalli mouch 3ejbo el Tayyar yefre2na.. We are sick, tired, bored and fed up from this song and from this propaganda... Plenty of options out there.. Go pick and choose. Quote:

Regards, | A small note:
Many people usually state an opinion that goes along with the general political atmospehere despite the fact that they actually think otherwise....which means that in 2005 many anti-FPM individuals pretended to like FPM and vote FPM because they didn't want to look weird and go against the Flow and the media etc.....but in reality these people never liked FPM and never Voted FPM, i mean in 2005, in keserwen/Jbeil for example the top candidate in the opposing list (i.e mansour el Bon) got around 33000 votes if i'm not mistaken, yet at that time i never heard anyone saying that he will vote against FPM.....now, with all the media and propaganda these people came out to the surface since it wouldn't sound so wrong to be against FPM anymore.....and these same people still pretend to have voted FPM in 2005 u can catch them when u hear this sentence:".....Back in 2005 we were all with FPM, but now F*ck Aoun....",Personally i know an example of these, the guy has always hated GMA and i know he voted against us in 2005 but with people who don't know him so well he pretends to have voted FPM in 2005 and now changed his mind..... with this happening the number of people who changed their minds would seem exaggerated....it's all part of the propanganda used against us........
now again, i'm not saying that no one changed his/her mind about FPM (i mean this is part of democracy) i'm only saying that the actual numbers are not as big as our opponents are advertizing...... | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to December Rain For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

Mech hayné ya3né... Where are they hiding themselves? Well actually, December rain said it all; they are not ashamed anymore and that is not a bad thing (for democracy). But it doesn't mean tayyar have lost all this support.
Nevertheless, let us work as if all those people voted for us in 2005. We should bring them back and win the elections in june with the same results... or more. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Qwiw For This Useful Post: | | | Orange Room Supporter

Regards, | I came back from Lebanon a few days back, and from what I have seen is that it is still the same. The people that changed their mind after the MOU, already changed their mind, but on average, FPM hasnt lost more than 10points and can manage 55-60% vs 70% in 2005.
I know people that voted FPM in 2005 that wont vote FPM in 2009. Actually, I was surprised when they voted FPM in 2005. Some of them are LFers that voted FPM in 2005 (cos they werent gonna vote for Jumblatt), others voted anti-HA in 2005 (thus voting FPM). Actually, those same people (anti-HA) used to criticize GMA when he was in France, and I remember pre-2000, when GMA used to criticize the Syrians, they used to say, the Israelis are the major threat, and GMA doesnt talk about them, now all of a sudden they remembered that Syria is the problem, and hence are anti-FPM ever since the MOU.
But the majority of the people that I know will vote the same way in 2009 (whether loyalists or opposition).
On a side note, I heard it from LFers, LF statistics show that in Deir el Ahmar, Emil Rahme gets 2/3rd of the votes vs 1/3 to Geagea. | | | | | Orange Room Supporter

After going to Lebanon this summer, I realised that my aunts and uncles who lives in the Bhamdoun area near Aley are voting FPM in the next election while in 2005, they voted for others and they used to hate Michel Aoun, why? Now, they said after what Israel have done in 2006 and the summer 2007 event and the fact that the MARCH 14 are allying with Jumblatt, they will vote for FPMs and now they have a huge hate for Kataeb and LFs.
I also noticed that some beiruties in some christian areas in dora, ain el remene will not vote at all, thats what they told me. Some of them use to be with FPM and after the MOU, they will not vote for him anymore and they dont like LF or Kataeb or any March 14gang because they say after seeing them 4 years in the majority of the governement, they have corrupted more and more the entity and the country, they do not deserve their vote and now, they do not belive in any kind of democracy.
I try to convince those people to give a chance to the opposition and vote for them and they will see better changes but they refuse to listen because of their hate to Nasrallah after the 2006 war. I also try to convince them that it wasnt Nassralah intention to drag us into a war but Israel and the US plan was behind this and they ignore all those facts, I left them with their own choice and I said to myself at least they will not vote for the majority list, so nothing was gonna be win but nothing was gonna be lost.
Another fact that has absolutly changed one of my brother use to be a big supporter of the LF militia specially the one who fought in the 70-80s with Bashir but now he is a big supporter of FPM after what he saw that Kataeb and LF leaders allied with specially Hariri and Joumblatt, in our family we both hate them because they hurted us both. Joumblatt killed most of my mom's family side and Hariri is there for the only reason to kick out Lebanese christians and put the Palestinians instead of them. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Anny For This Useful Post: | | | | |
