Default Why the governemnt wants HA's weapons first and not Palestinian weapons? - 6th May 2008

Yesterday night, our government came out with this piece of art

Lets say, in absolute terms, if we want to take the lebanese case as an independant entity of the neibourhood, if we want to consider lebanon as a secular state, where democracy rules, if we want to consider HA as a militia, not as a resistance , that this decision was fair enough.

But what about the palestenians weapons? Inside the camps or outside it. How many armed militia there are in the camps? Can our army enter the camp? Are the palestinians abiding by the laws of our country?

What danger is more imminent? the danger of the palestinians? or the "danger" of the lebanese? Shame on our government who has no sign of consistency in his decisions. Shame on the people who woke up today clapping their hands.

ya3ne I would loved to have a statement about the palestinians weapons. ya 3ayb el shoum. now HA are ennemies inside the state, but what about the palestinians ? Anybody cares about their weapons?

Lek ya chief, you understood nothing. The palestinians are going to be settled in Lebanon and will be given the nationality, so bi siro menna w fina, while HA are going to be dismantled since they are syrians and iranians, eventhough they have lebanese citizenship.

well, it's because Israel is not scared from Palestinians weapons. I wonder if Israeli will not use those weapons for their own interest one day.

Default Simple Question: why HA's weapons and not Palestinian weapons? - 6th May 2008

it is time to start asking the right questions.

why is the government so eager to strip away HA's weapons and is overlooking the palestinian camps? especially with the camps becoming a breeding grounds for extremist organizations like 3issabit el ansar, fat7 el eslem, jnoud el sett, and others?

Political correctness is not always helpful....it should be said bluntly and honestly for the young and blind generation.

HA weapons are shiite weapons
Palestinian weapons are sunni weapons.
Government is dominated by sunnis.

The reader can easily deduce the background behind this step.

Welcome to Regional Politics.

Welcome to Regional Politics.
And I can add that the palestinian weapon was the main ally of Kamal Jomblatt since1969

Why the governemnt wants HA's weapons first and not Palestinian weapons?

The government doesn't want the Palestinian weapons at the first place. It already owns their holders.

The government just wants HA's weapons ...and more...HA's head and body.

It is obvious that the government has no intention whatsoever to tackle the Palestinian weapons despite the fact that the camps represent a much imminent danger to the Lebanese overall, especially with the episodes we’ve witnessed in Nahr-El-Bared and with the on going episodes in Ein-el-Helwi and other places.

My question was originally directed to the loyalist supporters who are rationalizing going to war against HA over the issue of the weapons, under the pretext that they feel threatened by HA and that only the Lebanese Army should hold weapons. Don’t they think that the Palestinian camps ought to take priority over HA’s weapons?

Willingly turning a blind eye on the palestos camps underlines that the loyalists are motivated by a different agenda than the one they have announced in the open; it means that their ultimate goal is not to restrict the weapons to the hands of the Lebanese army, but rather they are motivated by a sectarian and regional agenda that intends to eradicate the nuisance caused by the resistance.

I don’t want to sound sectarian here, however, I can imagine FM supporters rooting for such an agenda in the light of the shiite-sunni confrontation throughout the middle east, but I cannot fathom to have Phalanges and LFers blindly market it without realizing the consequences of disarming HA prior to disarming the Palestinians and bringing the camps back under the control of the Lebanese authorities.
