it isn't about money but about culture and general ambiance of narrow personal interests before well doing its job. There can't be accountability. anyone who tries to fix things would be reprimanded. Opposition, HA put aside, needs deep change and reform.

what i don't get is that the opposition has a fair amount of supporting media :
ntv, otv, tayyar.org, al-akhbar, al-saffir...
why don't we feel their effect on the ground??

look around you for people not engaged in politics and you'll see that :
everybody knows when one MP makes a call to Iran, but nobody knows that hariri is spending weeks in KSA.
nobody knows that FPM has pushed to get the 1960 law to compromise, nobody knows that 14M tried to implement the Islamic children rights.
everybody knows that HA called may 7th a "glory day" and nobody knows what jumblat said about the maronites.

this was my personal experience before the elections, when many of my friends told me they will vote 14M, because they "believe in one state" and they don't want lebanon to become "an islamic country", and these people don't know what's the name of the president.
what am i missing?
to whom are you complaining ? to FPMers ? LOL... they are the first to critisize the young OTv whenerver this station say or do anything ! they accused it of being biased and too much orange ! eh oui on veut etre plus royaliste que le Roi . we have to be objective = neutral (every time i hear this sort of comment i go crazy ) .... in a media side lined world FPMers wanted Otv to be NEUTRAL ...
Lebanese tend to like holywood style this is where the other stations succeeded . even if what they offer to their public is all lies they enjoy it cause it is well presented with nice expensive back ground (decore) for them this is what is important !
they refuse to listen to both sides so they can have an objective point of view or at least to analyse things before taking sides ...they have been domisticated for so long they are adapted to this way of thinking ! !

now how many of your "friends who voted M14 " tried to listen to other then Ftv LBC MTV ? how many tried to have Otv to listen to the other side ? i bet none !why ? because as i said before they prefer the holywood sand in the eyes sort of media !!! they were well domisticated = USA and its dwarfs are always right walawwwww !

I think ur right.
I assure you that these people don't watch the news, they actually watch none of these local channels.
so i think the propaganda is beyond the news, it's more about using catch phrases, keep with simple and instinctive ideas, staying superficial (quoting SG: "byilbous cravate w bye7keh englizeh")...
things that makes 14M sound "cool".
it seems stupid, but believe me there is a big number of lebanese who have this level of thinking.

The best way to market a product is to have an appealing product in the first place.

I can tell you my own experience. I expected OTV to be biased from the beginning, and it exceeded even my worst estimates. Even if it is trying to sell a not-so-appealing product and has that inherent disadvantage, I cant imagine how any media outlet can do a worse job at selling it to independents than OTV has done.

I tend to disagree. Look at the 14 feb gang, the worst product that one can ever get, and still Saad Hariri and his goons are portrayed as the cool, democratic, tie wearing life savers.

I agree with you Youchka.
Did someone still remember that the Well Educated engineering student, Ziad Jarrah was the Kamikaze hijacker part of the September 11 attacks. A Video showed him six months before dancing with his girlfriend in a german Night-Club !!!
This is the typical portray of Hariri's Clan in Lebanon.

Ziad Jarrah is the nephew of Future PM Jarrah in west-Bekaa.....

i would like to disagree on that OTv is the only biased tv do u guys ever watch FTv they keep on putting the life of Hariri and their news is tooooooo much biased even more than OTv
but in turn what is wrong with otv is that they r toooo much orange eventhough ftv is too much blue but still blue is a classic color whereas orange is not (maybe in time ppl will start accepting it as a classic color but hardcore M14 will not)
also otv is biased but in a subjective manner which they should not. they should be biased but in an objective manner
propaganda is a bad thing it brain washes ppl, but it should be used cause every1 else is using it and it seems to work (though i cant understand how)
more propaganda about what M14 used to say and what they r doing now should be used lateer on as the picture gets clearer
