Just look at the names of the TV stations
- some are callled based on a party name in an explicit manner (ftv, otv, al-manar, etc.)
- others are called with no reference to specific party names (lbc, ntv, mtv, etc.)
Same goes for the intro of the news : maybe some less explicit party-supportive statement is more efficient when oit comes to "independant" voters | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Ignatius For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

what i don't get is that the opposition has a fair amount of supporting media :
ntv, otv, tayyar.org, al-akhbar, al-saffir...
why don't we feel their effect on the ground??
look around you for people not engaged in politics and you'll see that :
everybody knows when one MP makes a call to Iran, but nobody knows that hariri is spending weeks in KSA.
nobody knows that FPM has pushed to get the 1960 law to compromise, nobody knows that 14M tried to implement the Islamic children rights.
everybody knows that HA called may 7th a "glory day" and nobody knows what jumblat said about the maronites.
this was my personal experience before the elections, when many of my friends told me they will vote 14M, because they "believe in one state" and they don't want lebanon to become "an islamic country", and these people don't know what's the name of the president.
what am i missing? | The problem with the opposition's media is that it's explicitely biased. No body other than hardcore FPMer watches OTV, (manar is even worst).
NTV is better on this level.
but for the loyalists, their media is not explicitly biased (with the exeption of FTV). LBCI for instance makes itself appeal to everybody, while implicitly sending their msgs. same for MTV.
if we want to have a progress on this level, we should make our media heard by everyone, and not only FPMers. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Placebo For This Useful Post: | | | Orange Room Supporter

loyalist medias are using new school propaganda tricks
opposition medias are using old school propaganda tricks
it's like the terminator 1 facing liquid terminator 2
and if one isn't exactly fond of propaganda then one ends up not watching any channel
smart witty openly informative news with a purpose is too difficult a task for our simpled minded journalists to undertake.
so now we got a situation between the tv channels that is very much like the dug in trenches of WW1.

The loyalist media is:
MODERN AND INNOVATIVE (LBC , FTV and especially MTV)
The opposition media is :
REFURBISHED TELE LIBAN (NBN & OTV) ,
TARGETING A SPECIFIC RELIGIOUS GROUP(MANAR)
TRYING TO BE INNOVATIVE (NEW TV )
Christian are attracted by the first category.
They are not attracted by NBN and Manar and OTV is too much colored and lags behind in terms of quality and innovation. | | | | | Registered Member

OTV need serious make-over by reducing orange and be less subjective to attract neutrals (that constitute more than half of lebanese christians ) | | | | | Orange Room Supporter
