Also the duty-free market should be opened there so Arab tourists don't have to drive for Damascus if they want to buy cigarettes, alcohol and other stuff in bulk(bil jimle)
There's no point in having a "national" air transport system. If people are willing to drive all the way to Rayak Airport, they wouldn't mind driving to Qlei3at. Also, Beirut Airport is full as it is... And imagine someone wanted to go from Beirut to Riyaq, how should he go from there?

No the only solution is building an efficient transport system. Not just a bus system, which should of course be improved, but also a railway system that goes from Tyr to Beirut to Tripoli to Homs, and one that goes from Beirut to Damas passing by Zahlé... It would certainly be faster to take the train from Beirut to Tripoli, then taking the plane to Qlei3at!

Finally, for Qlei3at and Riyaq, they should become major regional airports, for both passengers (regional) and commerce (international). It would lower the price of plane tickets overall, and a navette system to take you from these airports to Beirut should also be created.

Hi Sebastian, here's what I would add to your list :

- Restrict the selling of land to foreigners.

- Developing a Lebanese identity rather than the respective religious identity each Lebanese is attached to. This begins by a common History book and a serious involvement of youth into civic activities.

- Decentralization:
  • Political
Citizens should be given more influence in the formulation of policies. Especially those affecting them directly be them social or economic. We should introduce the "Referendum" procedure into Lebanese political life and such a step would help us nurture a common feeling of Citizenship that would be shared by all Lebanese.
  • Administrative
Authority and financial resources should be redistributed more effectively and equally between regions. More power should be given to the Mohafazat in order to achieve better public service.

- Entering the era of Clean Energy! For God's sake! Everyone is looking for alternative energy sources while we're still scratching our brains day and night trying to bump into a solution for EDL and speculating and theorizing about the fuel prices!

What do you mean by state ?

Baalback-el-Hermel is a Mohafaza since 2003.
