Default What should the priority be after a government is formed? - 3rd August 2009

please don't comment about how many ministers each side should get, i personally think it's silly that 14feb doesn't dare and give us tilt mou3atil but anyway...
the point is a good minister, for example joubran bassil, did a lot of work and improved our telecommunications system soooo much.
So my question is what should Lebanon focus its attention on after this government is formed?
This is my opinion:(please feel free to comment on it)
Important notice: since we don't have the money for all this stuff, we need birnemij raqabe to supervise all the funds and their allocations(also congressional committees that would address this). The money needed, we can borrow from Western Europe and pay back, or ask for emergency grants for developmental Lebanese projects.

1. Green revolution:
-Mass reforestation by the Environment ministry, funded by NGO's and european green organizations.
-Building more dams, one for hydroelectric energy, two for storing and distributing water fairly
-Investing in renewable energy, mass public transportation(metro, bus, taxi decent systems and affordable). This would mean having a sky rail all along il tariq il se7ili. A light rail system, if implemented would be as twice as faster than cars all along our shores. A sky rail could probably cross the lebanese coast in minutes.

2. Tinqib: It was proven that Lebanon does have some oil reserves, they may have just a bit, but different international studies showed we have enough petrol for Lebanon for 20 or more years. This would make gas, kerosene, and diesel a lot cheaper.

3. Matar Riyaq: Finally implementing the project in which Riyak would become a national airport with regular passenger flights from Riyaq to Qlei3at, Riyaq to Beirut, Beirut-Riyaq, Qlei3at-Riyaq. Also the duty-free market should be opened there so Arab tourists don't have to drive for Damascus if they want to buy cigarettes, alcohol and other stuff in bulk(bil jimle)

4. Lebanese air force: ****** Hunters don't count since it's not even safe to drive that stuff anymore. We desperately need a serious program that could stand up to defend our skies and airbases if Israel decides to strike again.

5. Strengthen Lebanese industry by raising tarrifs on other industries, and investing in Lebanese shoe industry, among other industries and manufacturing businesses we're famous for like watches, and ummm. Notice the sarcasm? Why are we only famous for shoes and watches? We should have a Lebanese industry that could be as strong as our tourism.

6. Zawej Madani: Better late than never

7. Immediate release of prisoners from Syria, Israel and wherever they're left out in the world. this could be achieved via diplomacy, international red cross. This includes mafqoudin, the top person in that list being the great Moussa Al Sadr. As a Lebanese, i have the right to know what happened to him.

8. Cleaning up the public beaches and having a decent coastal guard program in the army, to supervise over the illegal fishing techniques, the littering on the sidewalks and the beaches, cleaning up the oil spills....

9. Sending the batrak to fiji: hahaa i wish

Do you mean only palestinians or also syrians before 1994?
If presidential rights were restored, so would the prime minister and house speaker stay with the same rights or would they have less rights?

sorry, any person who was given citizenship and NOT lebanese should be stripped away from him or her.

second, im not talking about more or less rights but what rights the president had RESTORED to him. Until the rights are restored lebanon will stay like this shia and sunni fighting for the piece of the pie.

agreed, but shouldn't we send those already on the road to driving lessons, and maybe our roads would be safer.

if the money supply was allocated fairly, we don't need more state income like you're saying, we need again committees to follow and audit where the money is being spent.

You need to less rely on debt in order to finance the state's expenditures.

Currently, debt is serving the government payroll even more than infrastructure or development projects if any.

No one denied the need for audit.
