Not exactly, FPM is, and most probably will remain in awkward self defence mode.

Any understanding with FM must have the following 2 points or else it wont make any sens:

1- FM must admit that FPM is the biggest christian representative and treat it as an equal partner like HA has been doing since 2006.

2- FM must have in mind that their economic policy applied since 1992 must be changed. This economic policy based on the neoliberal doctrine of the Chicago boys must be changed.

Once FM accepts those 2 points, FPM can reach an understanding with them in few days.

for me the equation is very simple: it's either 7 ministers or no participation

Hariri only works from a point of authority. If FPM will try to approach him, he will look down to it.
Saad Hariri is a Saudi puppet; so whatever is decided there FM will implement here. When the Saudi influence stops( which I strongly doubt), we can start dreaming of an understanding with FM.

i'm trying to think of new common points to propose to FMers here

but i can't

my creative imagination keeps complaining of the futility of doing anything here that can later be vetoed in a heartbeat by untrustworthy saad

Rational and straight to the point.
However, i do agree on some kind of political rapprochement for the sake of image and manoeuvering. There's no other way to shake off the fabricated anti-"sunni" image.

honestly, the man has the cash, and in a sectarian landscape he rules...obviously his mentors are experienced...apart from that, the guy is freakin rich and that motivates the poor classes...don't aske me why, but it often happens...those poor sunni masses see in Hariri a saviour, a reflection of what they always dreamt of becoming...even if they get nothing but 100USD they'll stick to him...its ignorance to the highest level...but we have to accept it and sit with him...

sometimes i think FPM is too european for lebanon...too modern, too ahead of its time...
The Sunna- Shiaa hatred existed long time ago..
Lots of things happened May7, I was there anyway and I heart how Amal thugs were shooting and swearing, insulting the Sunna, Omar, Abo Baker etc...I have videos and proofs. Why lying ? we all know that.

What Sunna did was blaming Hariri for not giving them weapons to fight.

I know hundreds of people who said, we are not going to elect Hariri because " Sawwadelna wejjna " and betrayed us that day.

If you really want the truth, it is the Sunna that is looking for someone like Hariri, not Hariri using them.

After May7 Sunna became AGAINST Hariri and not with him. What Hariri did was triggering that hatred by promising he will never forget... All they are looking for is a Solid PM ( As Berri is to the Shiite ).

I have nothing to hide, I am being honest. This is the truth.. the Lebanese sectarianism..

i don't think that it's possible because Hariri is not the kind of man who
keeps his promises and words. under pressure, he will back away and
make a U-Turn. he is not trustworthy.
on the other hand, GMA is a trustworthy man. when he reaches an agreement,
even the whole world cannot make him back away.

besides that, why do you guys speak about Sunna when you speak about Hariri?
I thought FM is a secular movement

It will come eventually - hold your horses. The idea is not just mending realtionship with FM only but also with everyone else (including M14 christians) and Hezbollah otherwise there wouldn't be a chance to go forward with this country. The most important thing is agreeing on the main pillars that preserve our country i.e. militias, weapons outside the state, fighting corruption etc. The rest is details and fair game like in any other democratic country.

You have to form a solid foundation before you go forward because if you don't it will keep on crumbling and if the agreement on those main issues are 100% then everything else is possible.

I can care less who is in charge as long as they are working for the best of our country because naturally we want our kids to be raised in Lebanon (and stay) and not otherwise.
