Default Time limit to form a govt - change? - 3 Weeks Ago

According to the constitution, there is no time limit as to when a PM must form the government.

Elections were done and completed on June 7. It is now 1st Nov.

5months and counting yet without a government. Each side blames the other for the delay.

My question is this, should the constitution be changed to include a time limit for the formation of government? If so, why? If not, why?

Please state the pros and cons of such a proposition.

Regards,
TR

I am personally in favour of a time limit. This would limit the amount of damage external forces can do. And a time limit would also take Lebanon out of the regional bargaining game.

It would also be a kick up the backside of internal parties to work together in unison to form a government.

How would a time limit be an attack against the Sunni?

I am asking how would a time limit infringe of "Sunni" rights? He still has the right to be nominated, and form a govt. This time, only within a time limit.

So again, how would a sunni, perceive this "change" as a threat to them?

well it depends on who ask for that type of law! if Aoun or Nasrallah ask for that kind of law the sunnist will feel targeted! in their mentally PM is only the sunnist business

if you ask me i dont see any treat to the sunnist at all in that kind of law!

A time limit should definetely be imposed. 4 months 5 months whatever. After that bye bye PM and lets start all over again.

Time limit for what! They dont even follow the current constitution and laws. Why add more things to ignore or further complicate an already bastardized system that was born still to begin with.

As long as the concept of time is not vital to the Lebanese society; politicians will never bother to consider it as such.
