By the way,

George Galloway is not only right on the principle, but i can even prove the veracity of his words in another context.

As illustration,i can safely say:

"there is no democracy in lebanon.if there is democracy GMA would have been president"

Because i can safely confirm that what prevented someone as popular as GMA from being elected President,is exactly the same sectarian system that prevents someone as popular as SHN from being elected president.

So don't worry yourself too much with counting votes...numbers don't necessarily get anyone anywhere in our system.
BuSandal you smart spoilsport! I was hoping for some late-night tickles and laughs with that hehe.
Agreed akeed on all, cheers amigo!

Sorry John,

No offense, but this comment is misplaced and misleading, and gave me the impression that you're trying hard, either not to understand what MS has just posted or to put words he didn't say into his mouth.

Hey AS,

I'm personally orthodox, so I can never attain any of the 3 top posts, but u don't see me losing any sleep over it because there are WAY more stressing issues that ought to be dealt with first. I would much rather see our government apply the laws that are currently in place as a start, then we can talk about a full fledge democracy.

The only reason I'm deducing the above is because I've noticed MS discuss this issue on multiple other occasions and I feel we are very far from ready for this for the mere fact that many are thinking of it as a priority.

This is something that needs to be addressed most definitely at some point, but proposing it while the whole country is still corrupt and lawless seems disingenuous.

My 2 cents..

SHN a depasse les frontieres du Liban, sa popularite s'etend beacoup plus loin que ca, tout coe GMA.

both akbar b kteer men enno ya3mlo "president". these are leaders, true leaders, leaders people all around the world follow ... not a "president" elected by a few MPs for a few years ba3den he goes back home.

note: this is why i'm glad GMA ma toli3 president. keno n2aso jwen7o in a way ..... now he's got much more freedom to really show the world how popular he is and what a true leader he's become.

Isn't it telling how everyone reacted to the "Nasrallah would have been president" part, but no one remarked how it is a shame that "there is no democracy in Lebanon", as if we have all subconsciously resigned to this reality?

The unfortunate truth is that we, the Lebanese people as a whole, still process things in sectarian terms, and as long as these mindsets remain, the sectarian system will remain and we will never be able to establish freedoms for ourselves nor democracy for the will of our people.

Ya 3ammi, forget who would or wouldn't be President. Ana ma3kun, SHN wouldn't be President, and he probably wouldn't run kamen. Instead, focus on what can we do to create a real democracy in this country, and once that happens, maybe then we can worry about whoever the Lebanese people overwhelmingly vote into the office of President of the Republic.

I support HN to be the next lebanese president
and I hope the first thing he does is to apply shari3a laws on FPM members
and if canada can facilitate the emigration process it would be great
cheers

There is no full sovereignty in Lebanon yet so how can there be democracy?

Isn't it telling that hardly anyone remarks on how shameful that is? As if we have all subconsciously resigned to this reality!
