If you are happy mabrouk 3leyk, I am not we don't have a solution, we have a recipe for conflict again.
We are thanking Qatar not for finding a solution, but for being fair and just and caring towards Lebanon.

This is a hell of alot more than anyone has ever done for us.

You call this a solution? a solution for what? to have a solution you need to define a problem. What's the problem and what's the solution?

Next let's say mouwelet will win the elections and nominate Doureyd el sharbatli as Prime minister and elect Berri as head of parliament, there will still be two communities not represented in the executive branch and the legislative branch will still be in the hand of Berri, so the only representation will be Berri (but not in executive).
Would this solve our problems? Just don't thank Qatar because if they helped us achieve this, there is nothing to be proud of.
There is something fishy, why did the whole world including Qatar accept and push to elect a president instead of early elections and then a president? If they really want to push for democracy they should have stood against having a president now, but of course since having a "foreign" president can be a mole for any country in the world, then this means our problems have just started again

LLOOLL!! I knew this was a thread which required your "intervention".

But at least let's be grateful that the Qataris t7amalouna shway, because our ti2l dam is truly unbearable.

Default Thank you Qatar - 21st May 2008

With all those "thank you" threads, I would like to give my own personnal thanks to Qatar!

This country hosted us, bread us and educated as if we were their own 5 year old kids fighting for who gets to play with the PSII for the next 2 hours...

We should not undersestimate their help in our little conflict. They managed to do what nor the US, nor Syria, nor KSA, or the EU or France, and most importantly, no even ourselves, would have been capable of doing: making "all" Lebanese leaders gather around a table and agree on something, however temporary!

Thank you Qatar!

Qatar,
Thank you for everything,
Now you might want to host the Syrians and Israelis next…………

I couldn't agree more, Dodzi. Our own stupidity couldn't get us to meet in Beirut. No country was able to pull off what Qatar did. And what did they get in return? That's why they deserve at least a "thank you" from our spoiled and rotten nation.

Wait and see what they will get in return, what did Saudi get in return for Taef?
Everybody wants influence in the Middle East.
The important thing is that the Lebanese got a president that represents errr, i don't really know whom

Perhaps not all help is based on "masla7a"...

They might have many reasons to help us:
- prevent a conflict in their own country
- show themselves as a neutral and well-intended country
- economical advantage in Lebanon...

Even the 3rd reason mentionned shouldn't be necessarely considered as "bad intentions"...

I just called the Embassy of Qatar in theUS . They directly gave me the ambassador. His excellency is so down to earth and I wish that our leaders were like that. Please if you are in North America call 202 274 1600 and thank the ambassador. Make it brief. You might speak to him if you are lucky. There is Manal there who is a sweetheart. The love that the Qatris have for Lebanon is amazing.

For the Lebanese living outside of Lebanon email amboffice@qatarembassy.net and thank the Emir and the Amabassador as well as the people of Qatar . Pass this message to all the Lebanese in Lebanon. Let us send 10,000 thnak you emails to the embassy.
