Default tayyar.org ... areas of improvement? - 19th April 2007

This is not intended to be a "bash tayyar.org" thread, but rather for suggestions to improve tayyar.org.

I'd like to start by a word of appreciation to the tayyar.org's team who have devoted a lot of effort and time to keep us always updated and motivated for many years now. Having said that, it is time to make some improvements that do not have to be costly. We owe it to tayyar.org, and I hope they can accept criticism.

I will start with my suggestions:

1- stop mixing important/serious political news with news about Haifa Wehbe, fashion, and Anna Nicole Smith... Maybe have a side section about sports and another one about Entertainment.

2- Make an effort to avoid sectarian messages, such as parading how many christians voted for FPM in the latets engineers' syndicate elections.

3- Stop the cheap attacks, be different than the other media in Lebanon. No need to make the Jabhat el Tahrir the major headline just to ***** the LF, and then carry special bulletins about the Hanoun... it just might sound like we are becoming a party in the internal LF struggle, and it sounds like we are giving too much importance to an ex-criminal (hanoun).

4- Separate local news from international news

5- a little more objectivity and coverage of news other than those specifically catered to FPM. Some people go to tayyar.org to read news related to FPM, and then to other sites to read general news about Lebanon.

Once again, i hope your criticism will be constructive, while keeping in mind the efforts the tayyar.org have devoted while volunteering to keep us updated.

thanks.

Very good point.
I think that the news on tayyar.org should be more organized.
I think that the Tayyar news and tayyar events should be seperated from lebanese news, lebanese newspapers, international news.

Golden words LoubnaniTO. We should live up to the real messages of secularism no matter how hard things could be!

I agree 100 % with the objectivity issueas well as secularism.
As for the entertainment and non-political news, i don't see a problem; on the contrary, it's positive that the news are mixed, sometimes we get really tired of politics and we need a fun news that will divert us a bit away from politics; this is what all media do, for example check TF1's news, sometimes they start with sports or entertainment then they move to politics; it depends on the importance of the news...

Have noticed lately that tayyar.org is posting news about singers & movies.
So what's the difference now between Elaph & Tayyar.org?
Plus they are very slow when it comes to news update, sometimes we need to wait for the second day to read an interview done with GMA.
I have one more question in mind,, When the Tayyar.org new version is going to be launched?? or it is already and we didn't notice?

I dont disagree, i am saying have a side section for Sports (say on the left hand side of the screen), and below it for example an entertainement section.

If just looks odd to have one article about how we are heading down towards a disastrous situation in the country, then right after that Haifa biting her finger with a headline that she is one of the most influential in the middle east, then news about how the mhajjarin (displaced) havent been paid yet and their miseries, then news about the investigation into the death of anna nicole smith..... a little odd..

I agree with points 1, 4 & 5 from the Loubnanito's post, but not 2 & 3. I don't know if you intend to discuss these points in this thread, or is this just addressed to the tayyar.org stuff.

About parading sectarian oriented news like what percentage of Christians voted for FPM in the recent order of engineers elections, removing such news will not solve the real issue. The real issue is that such news merely reflect an attitude. Fix the attitude first, and such news will not appear as a natural outcome or process. For example, today, you can see on tayyar.org some news about a festival done in Riyadh Solh to celebrate the opposition's win. More political moves to an already politicised and 'sectarianised' election. Was not the move of quickly moving to the "leader" GMA and take his "blessing" for the "victory"? Was not that enough of a political move?

What an ugly move. It was a syndicate election, a professional body, not the mayorship. I feel pity sometimes for my country and this attitude. And NO ONE IS INNOCENT.
