Arthur Nazarian is a sucessful businessman and a member of the Armenian General Benovelent Union (A.G.B.U.-schools, health centers, Antranik club ). He was treasurer of its Lebanon central comittee.
His father is honorary president of the same union.
His grandfather donated the money for building Levon A.G.B.U. Nazarian school in Sin El Fil (near GGF) in 1962. The Nazarian family still supports the school and the Armenian comunity in every way they can.

Arthur Nazarian is a canditate with a clean history. Many non tashnak Armenians who would have normally not voted for Tashnak candidates, will find it very hard to do so with Mr. Nazarian.

I believe that Mr. Nazarian and Mr. Kaloust are both good choices in terms of non-partisan candidates.

Arthur Nazarian was born in Lebanon in 1951. He received his elementary education at the AGBU Yervant Demirdjian School and his secondary schooling at International College. He then attended Philadelphia College of Textile and Science, graduating as a textile engineer.

He joined AGBU in 1954. From November 1993 to October 1997, he served on the executive committees of AGBU and the Asbeds Guild of the Armenian Youth Association in Lebanon.

From 1998 to 2000, he ably served in the Lebanese government as minister of environment and tourism.

From October 1996 to November 2001, he held the position of treasurer of AGBU Lebanon District Committee.

Arthur Nazarian and his brother Levon underwrote the costs of refurbishing the hall of St. Nichan Church in Beirut, to perpetuate the names of their parents, Garbis and Arek Nazarian. The Nazarian families of Garbis, the late Noubar and Nazar are known for their benevolent undertakings to the Armenian nation, including the Levon G. Nazarian School in Beirut, the Nazarian Hall of AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School in Canoga Park, California, the building of the Armenian Embassy in Beirut, and many other projects.

Arthur Nazarian was honored by Lebanese President Emile Lahoud in October 2007 with the National Order of the Cedar, Commander Grade, for his meritorious services to his country. This Order is a prestigious civilian and military award and Medal of the Lebanese government – in fact, the country's highest decoration.

Arthur Nazarian presented his candidature for the Armenian Orthodox seat in Beirut's 2nd district, as a member of the Armenian Parliamentary Block, for the Lebanese Parlamentary elections that will be held in June 2009.
