Icon4 Are the Syrian troops still massed up on our borders? - 16th January 2009

In all the painful current events, I think it is important to keep the all elements at play up to date.

Keeping in mind: Sarkozy, the right wing half-surprise winner in France, becoming chummy with Bashar and overall middle east issues and leaders.

Months ago, bombings in Beirut & Damascus, coupled with a couple of missing Americans who entered Lebanon and showed up in Syria, ultimately said to have led to Syrian troops amassing on our border.

At that same time there was announcements that Al Qaida is present in north Lebanon, and that terrorist threats were received saying the UNIFIL is the target.

The US raid Syria near the Iraqi border and Syria didn't necessarily appear to mind...

Aoun visits Iran & Geagea visits Cairo.

Lebanon then gets promises of armaments and air power, and from sources who usually collide in interest..

Then the right wing government of the US in the second week of December announces - once more - imminent threats to target Unifil, Cairo double crosses Hamas into thinking no strike will take place, two German battle ships anchor off the Naqoora shore, and daily combing of the South starts in an effort to "catch those terrorists aiming at the Unifil"...

Then Israel attacks Gaza and invades it even.

The rest, including the current hammering of a US-Israeli cease fire deal, that also includes a Western commitment in "economically growing the city of Rafa7".

Any extrapolations on the above series of events? Any additional events on that level you feel are missing? Why the event of the Syrian troops amassing on our borders still takes place? And how will all this affect the refugee issue that we have and it's outcome?

So is that like a good thing? a bad thing? Is it for security reasons? do they still apply?

Could the continued presence of Syrian troops on our borders ultimately impact our elections? refugee outcome?

Or any other reason in all this trouble down south, that Syria has no need to be on alert on its border with Israel? Ours is like, more important or something?

Everyone's focus is towards our main enemy Israel and its atrocity in Gaza and this guy talks about Syria.

Let it be clear to all those LF, Future batikh, paranoia's. So long you are cooperating with the liberal Arab traitors and Israel so long Syria has full rights to protect its boarders from your terrorist fatih el islam thugs.

Syria needs to have troops on our border to protect itself from an Israeli threat. I see no problem with this.

I think we should allow some small Syrian troops to go back to Lebanon and place them on the Southern border so that they can protect themselves from Israeli threat.

I think that we need the contribution of the so-called defenders of the principle of "non interference in other country's internal affairs" to tell us what to do here.

Yes, I would be happy with that, as long as they are placed in Ashrafieh, Mukhatara and Kraetem.

Enno why aren't they on alert at least? A war on Gaza, and Syria wasn't even on alert?

US bombed a village in it, wala fara'it ma3on...

Enno, is there a threat still coming from Lebanon? To Syria? Why?

I do find it confusing. and no interference is one thing, but massed up troops on borders, enno, coz for some apprehension, no?

Isn't their borders as well???

Why u're not commenting on the presence of the Israeli army inside our border and inside the blue line most of the time???
