Aoun to Demand Share Not Less than 45% of Cabinet Seats, Plus Veto Power
Free Patriotic Movement leader Gen. Michel Aoun will reportedly demand a share not less than 45 percent of seats in the new Cabinet, in addition to veto power.
The daily Al Liwaa said Wednesday, citing a well-informed source, said opposition parties have asked specialized companies to provide them with a study on numerical election results "with the aim of showing a different picture of the result reached by March 14 forces."
Those parties, according to Liwaa, aim at focusing on what the opposition calls a "popular majority" and also show the Christian majority

The source said a meeting on Wednesday scheduled for Aoun's Reform and Change bloc would touch on the opposition share in the new government.

He said Aoun, not only would seek veto power, but would also demand a share not less than 45 percent seats in the new government.

FPM did a good job in the communications ministry despite the fact that Baseel talked way way way too much.

On the other hand, having opposition and loyalists in the same government is a "constitutional joke" as FPM put it in its 2005 program.

It would be better on the long run if you just stick to opposition and expose any corruption that happens inside the government but looks like opposition will join without the 1/3 telt mo3attel in the end.

The people chose loyalists and not oppositions. This is democracy whether we like it or not.
We should let those people see what 14 march will do for them. Let them see that the people they are re-electing over and over again are worth nothing... To reach this goal, I think we should stay outside the government and give lessons on how opposition should be. This way 14 march cannot say we are causing any "ta3teel", we will have time to reorganize as mu3arada AND we will use other ways to support the people who elected us. This can happen by creating corporates, companies, industries... all over Lebanon. I do not think we have any money issues regarding this plan + people in Lebanon tend to be loyal to those who help them (look at the Hariri financial aid programs example!).
I would like to add that we should NEVER fight corruption with corruption. If they cheat we shouldn't cheat, if they buy votes we shouldn't buy votes, if they talk ta2ifiyyi we shouldn't....
We are the true future of Lebanon, let's make sure people will believe this as much as we do...

Our last experience with the unity government was very bad, you cannot deny this fact. People will see their stealing clearer this way and they will hopefully become closer to the truth. To do a real change we need the whole government and not a third or fourth.. so let's wait these 4 yrs if we really believe in our cause... I'm sure things will work out then..

although i want FPM to play it smart and try to make its message heard within other communities out of reach up till now,i don't want to see FPM in any freaky government that might emerge...

it is time to explain our message to everyone, with patience and using reason and facts, away from sectarian lines and radical stands...don't get involved in the mess that any government is going to go through...whoever won, we all know that Lebanon is bankrupt and march14 will not change that fact cause they don't really care, nor does hariri i believe. So lets focus on what matters, the party and the street...it is time to be more active than ever and avoid being related to dirt, corruption, scandals, inaction etc... imagine in 4 years when everything is still the same and the lebanese go back to their chronical nagging and complaining cause there are no jobs, no electricity and no hope...we won't be able to say "hi guys, vote for us... we're clean, we have nothing to do with that"...

let the people accept the consequences of their choice. we'll be working hard while they fight for the ministries...

I agree with you...I see 3 clear options:

1- Getting veto is out of the question...they won't accepet and even if they do they won't let us apply any reform and we'll be dragged to never ending daily fights in parliament...

2- A few ministries aren't enough. they'll give us the shittiest portfolios and put all kinds of obstacles so we can't work propperly...again fights and our image tarnished...plus no chance to reform 2illa maybe decrease the price of chips and peanuts...

3- Stay away from the gov. and work on the street close to the people while m14 melts down, fights erupt for portfolios, the economic crisis is felt, electricity can't be seen anywhere... etc...in 4 years we're back stronger than ever!

i chose 3!

No the opposition should not particiapte in the new government ... People made their choices and they prefered to be ruled by the loyalist .. so why we should interrupt their wishes ... let them rule the country on their own ... we should not participate because we are always the victims ... we had the 1/3 last time and who did care about what our ministers did ? ??? they didnt see that their minsiters were still stolen them... they just accused us with incompetency because we were cleaning their dirtiness ... they always see the empty part of the glass and not the full one ... they always accuse us bil thilth l mu3attil ... they were never satisfied ... never ... Why should we participate ??? ... let them do whatever they want to do ... i dont care anymore ... let those stupid blind full of hate people who brought them back ...take the responsibilities of their bad choices.... ta chouf iza ra7 you3o walla 2 la2 ...

And for the persons who voted for the opposition, well i suggest to ask them what they want ... i am sure the majority doesnt want them to participate .. let them save their energy on something useful ...instead of getting bashed day and nignt because they were working against l fassed wil sir2a ..

Those people don't deserve a clean person like GMA .. they are happy living like that wil balad mechi .. let it be ...let their wishes come true ... Now you have the whole country to rule ......battikh ykassir ba3do ... be happy from now on.
