Given that the loyalists have an external agenda and the good of the Lebanese public is not their priority, their strategic plan - if at all they are capable of formulating one - will not be something FPM can agree in, should it choose to be part of the government.

Being in the government itself is a responsibility, regardless of what ministries you have and the 1/3.

Unless a national unity government is accepted to avert any potential implosion, I would prefer FPM remain out.

Although it is sad that the popular majority of 800K people who voted for us will not be represented in government, one cannot be in the company of such filth. Their history speaks for itself.

As to those suggesting we pack our bags, I hope you get over this temporary emotional state, and get back on your feet to fight with the rest of us again. He who believes in freedom and justice will not give up after 4 years of effort, nor after getting a HANDFUL of parliamentary seats less than hoped for. Have Faith, God knows this hasn't been our darkest moment yet by any standard!

Cheers!

The elections are over but I think we need some more time to analyze properly the outcomes and the new situation.

In our sectarian country, now we have the shiite block represented by HA and Amal, the sunni block represented by FM, and C&R block representing the majority of the christians.

I'm expecting the positions that will be adopted by FPM regarding the two following questions :

1°/ if we oppose some of the results in Metn and / or Zahle and go to the court (we actually don't know anything) ;
2°/ depending on the first question, what will be the orientation of FPM.

Notwithstanding the 1/3 issue and if the electoral results are accepted as they are, I think that we can't accept any participation in the future government unless this participation fits with the future orientation of the party.

If we are to play our opposition role, we'd better avoid be part of the government.

If we decide to try again to get the role of the political party which will build bridges between the two main opposing sides, i.e. FM on one hand, HA on the other hand, being part of the future government would be then natural.

This second possibility depends on many factors :

- FM's attitude : Will they play the sectarian card or not ? Will they accept to start a real dialogue, the one we should have made in 2005, or chose confrontation ?
- HA's attitude : here things are pretty much clear, we signed the MOU and we'll stick to it (unless we go and negotiate some provisions with FM in case FM accepts the dialogue and the dialogue leads us to positive outcomes).
- The President's position : Will he ask for a share in the Government ? Will he try to get a prominent role or will he go slowly but surely toward an open confrontation with FPM and GMA ?

If there is no other option than a full scale opposition, then in no way we should participate in the future government. In this case, we'll have to play the important role of opposing in the Parliament with a huge parliamentary block of 27 MPs. And we'll have to improve seriously our communication.

In any case, we must get back to FPM roots while trying to adapt to the lebanese political game. Paradoxical but we don't have any choice. There will definitely be no revolution in Lebanon.

PLEASE Listen to my analysis:

There was a pattern, a path that was taken by the opposition during 2005-2009 and that path took us to a defeat ( as an opposition) in 2009 elections.
That path consisted of blocking with force the corruption and misdeeds of the loyalists==>that lead them to accuse us of being ''the syrian interference which won't let and doesn't want the March 14 to work and bring back Lebanon to life, of course knowing that they weren't able to work during the 15 years that preceded the sit-in because of the Syrian occupation'' ==> 2009 elections proved that people believed this
That means if we continue like that WE WON'T GET ELECTED IN 2013 again.

That is why I say, let them rule with 30 ministers!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let them be corrupt, they will have no one but to blame themselves,
People will blame them.
Let them pass all the laws that hurt the christians like muslim child rights, etc.. EVEN NATURALISATION OF PALESTINIANS
It will lead to anger in the christian street, the christians will feel again the same as during the occupation, the christians will think: how come I am marginalised while the syrians are out? Oh waiiiiiiiittt the 14 marchers were in the control also during the syrian presence! Oh my god, 14 marchers are the real oppresors, TARARARUM, I will vote FPM.
+ the government decisions will stay ink on paper since we know that the people are the source of power and a big decision like naturalisation of palestians (or a less bigger decision) will cause an uproar in the christian street, we will gain instantly 80% christian support (yes, there will always be mazoschists (20%) no matter what you do) and sunni support (since it will affect their identity in the north where the palestenians will outnumber them and become the political leaders of them ghassb men 3anoun) and we will rush to the streets, burn the goddamn walls on the corrupt officials and conduct elections that will make us a majority with maybe 2/3rds!

With this plan, we would be clarifiying the image for the Lebanese street.

HOW ABOUT THAT!
(note: I am a simple/common citizen making his analysis with no inside information, ya3neh what I know, already everybody in Lebanon knows, so excuse me if there are possibilities of reactions from loyalists I did not take into consideration)

Total opposition..
I think FPM should ask clearly for a new system in Lebanon, sectarianism is the main problem, we should oppose Taef agreement and ask for a new constitution, or else we will never be able to Change and Reform even if we get the majority.
the current sectarian system is corruption itself.

As long as we have the 2nd biggest Block in the parliament C&R block should participate in the Government with or without the 1/3,, cause the people who gave us their votes,, they expect something from us,,

The constitution is not important!!!!
ITS HOW PEOPLE THINK THAT MUST CHANGE.
Aoun can only change, even if he doesn't want it to be only, the christian mentality.
However for the sunni and durzi mentality: you need their leader to change their mentality or a clean state that will relax sectarian feelings and leave room for change to happen in the minds of many.
Both are not present!!

Plus another obstacle is the resistance since it is based on sectarianism: 'Al muqawama al muslima'' and they need religion to overcome the Israeli butchering machines!
However this will lead to Shias not changing their mentality and other lebanese fractions to be more met3asbin and thus no change in their mentality.

I think FPM should boycott the new government and give up that radical idea of change... the lebanese spoke and they're happy with the way things are... well let them be happy :D! maybe l 50 mil den becomes 100 :D! If you're insisting on the "mouhesabe" you can do that without being in the government... let the government be ruled by the majority and in 4 years you'll try again...
