Men fought the Israelis in the 80's and yes they were in militias at the time. They were in SSNP, Communist, left wing militias, and muslim militias. Yes they resisted israel, but they weren't as organized as the resistance as we know it now. I Know my facts, because I lost family members who defended the south during the invasion. I lost both my grandparents as they fought till the 90's against the Israeli/SLA occupation of southern lebanon.
The syrians ? They are the biggest joke of an army. They were a few KM away from Tel Aviv, they were faced with the only 10 tanks in the Golan and they retreated. The Israelis admit if the 300 syrian tanks advanced they would of been crushed.
The egyptians? Arabs can't follow orders. Had the general waited as he was told for the SAMs and air cover and didn't create a gap in the attack line they would of also won. But sharon was smarter.
Jordan....please don't tell me about the traitors.
The lebanese military proved itself against the Israelis in the past. From the creation of Israel till today. The lebanese army will not be fighting alone, they will be fighting alongside thousands of men from the resitance.
Have some faith in the army.
Rockets and fancy toys are nice to have. But once you are on the ground its the tactics that count. Who knows the terrain the most ? Who knows the people ? Who knows how to conceal weapons ? etc...
