I rarely post here, but since this the most read lebanese forum, I have to apologize in the name of the Lebanese to all the Saudis who read this post... We are not all racists!
Take what X said in your real life.

Imagine yourself sitting next to this saudi guy and your GF or wife or fiance or your sister is with you what will you do?

well, stay and enjoy.

HEHEHEHE

Why is it that when we go to Saudia arabia or any other Gulf country, we are deemed culturally insensitive if we put on a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. and God forbid my wife not wear a veil.

But in our country, we are deemed culturally insensitive if we criticize others for not adhering to our socio-standards.

Double standards may work on you, and if you can enjoy a romantic dinner with your wife at an exclusive restaurant, while a fellow patron is picking at his feet, in thongs with pungent B.O you enjoy. I suggest you even share a plate of Hummous with him.

Sa7tan

Some posts are quite comical to say the least. Geagea bows down below Saudi feet. And what I don't understand is how so many sell their wives yet come and say negative things about those who buy them LOL! Talk about double standards.

There is no need to apologize. If the Lebanese "think" they're more special than the Saudis, the others think the Lebanese are cheap objects. The moment you say you're Lebanese they have to assume that you're a prostitute. Now i wonder why they get that impression ...

KSA is spotless. His feet would be very clean since he washes them each time he prays; minimum five times a day, so logically there's nothing to pick.

Those who know themselves could try to participate in this discussion without stereotypes.

Dalzi

It is now evident that Geagea has inflicted immense psychological damaged to you and your ability to conduct a single discussion without involving him. I'm not sure whether he sold your mother to the Saudis when you were a child, or he was riding her while you watched. Either way, I suggest you let it go. I'm sure she did. I'm sure she got you an education out of it.

While you enjoy those spotless Saudi feet, I'll have my scotch elsewhere.

Guys, "nouveaux riches" or un-educated rich people are the same everywhere... Russians in St Tropez and London or Saoudi in Marbella and Beirut... And to be honest, some Lebanese too...

I would like to pick-up on a couple of points that were mentionned:

1) Who benefits from the money spent by the Tourists (saoudi or other)
2) How does that impact the locals or other more "modest" tourists...

1) I'm not an expert in the set-up of the Lebanese economy but would assume that the revenues generated by the tourist' spend benefits the local economy: even if we don't own the hotels and stores, Lebanese people work in the hotels / restaurants, stores where these people stay, eat and shop. I would like to see more "buy local" efforts made the government to promote local products (local crafts, jewelery, traditional clothing, etc.) but also infrastructure to promote sites beyond Beirut and Broumana (the North, the South, ZaHle, etc.)
2) That is not something new and to be honest not driven by Saoudis only, but by the whole set-up of the Lebanese economy. Our economy is very much a thirld world economy with small, very rich, minority and large poor majority. Given that the supply is somewhat restrained if we stay focused on "Monot and Centre Ville" only, the prices are bound to shoot up... Expand the supply without being obssessed by "making a killing" in 2 years and you'll get European / more "modest" tourists staying further out from Beirut and enjoying the many more interesting sites and things Lebanon has to offer... Of course, here too help from the government and the Tourism ministry is instrumental...

Anyway, my 2 cents

Its so unfortunate that we Lebanese have a tendency to tell the world that we are better. I thought we were hospitable people, a nation of tolerance to live and let live, a nation where mistakes were made but we learn from them so we don't repeat them. But for sure we are the opposite.

Is this want we want to show the world?
