In many dangerous neighborhoods around the world, where police has neglected to adequately protect communities that are being harassed and wronged constantly, civilians sometimes organize in watch squads to help themselves. This is not what the country needs though, and Sami shouldn't encourage it even-though you should admit he did choose his words carefully to describe a situation and not call for anything. The country needs a policy of disarmament of all that inherently promotes better control of the state apparatus of the situation on the ground.
The army needs to disarm all the knifes from the people....

Nothing is wrong with what he said. It just leads to a civil war thats all. You've tried it in the 70's before and didn't learn, you wanna try it again.

No one is stupid, Sami's well chosen words on TV are just a very light version of what is said in Kataeb/LF circles and their 'recruiting teqnique' of scaring people into joining their 'strong ranks of christian protectors - especially that the Virgin Mary is on your side- I didn't know she went to West Point Military School too.

On my part, I'm working against you trying to arm yourself with the pretence of having other civilian groups armed to then to do what? Kill each other? How does that build a state? Or make my future any better?

Another civilian group is armed, how do we solve that issue if we don't want to enter into conflict? Such a difficult question to answer isn't it...

...Have you considered the underlying reasons they're armed? Have you considered making the state even stronger and the Army even more responsible to protect these civilians so they don't need to carry arms?

No, you want the conflict route...OK, you're not a majority and can't make that decision for the whole of the society...FM will not play ball with you this time and in all honesty, the real stakes are in a possible FM - HA clash and that is not foreseeably happening anytime soon thanks to May 7.

So all this LF/Kataeb rhetoric is not a serious discussion anyway (they're not the real players here); conflicts starts on day 1, day 2 hundreds of thousands of people will leave the country because they can predict only one outcome: Failure! Zou're a reminder of failure and displacement in your 'moukawama' from 76 to late 80's....keep reminding us of it with your yearly september parties.

I want to keep these people in their homes, find solutions to issues peacefully, and if anyone needs to be armed, its the Army.

This is why FPM must start promoting young figures who are somewhat popular...let's face it, GB ain't Lebanon's sweetheart and I have to agree with DI about what he said in his previous post regarding Frangieh as a christian leader...This is why FPM must begin to bring forward some young, attractive members such as Sehnaoui or even tony Oryan...

EITHER NO ONE IS ARMED OR IT'S EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!
You decide if you want a strong state or a jungle. It's that simple

And how come you don't see the existence of armed communities not leading to a Civil Wars and other Wars?

Hezbollah are responsible they are destroying the country, they are calling for separation just by having an armed militia.
and here you are blaming a man words would lead to war and not looking to main problem

again the only solution on this issue is in Hezbollahs hands and it is to hand over their arms to the LA.
but i'm sure Hezbollah would rather burn them self and not give this weapon to the LA. so it means we will never have a country!

the existence of armed Militia will always lead to a war the question is just when!

This isn't arithmetic. Two wrongs do not make a right, it just makes a bad situation worse.

Instead of complaining about Hezbollah's weapons like you incessantly do, why not come up with a solution instead? Israel, the world's 4th most powerful army, tried doing it by force and failed. Do you want the defenseless Lebanese army to do it for you? Or do you went to send the Christian youths to be slaughtered in Dahiya for your arousal?

Stop pointing out the problem over and over again and do something useful for once in your life and come up with a solution.

did you read somewhere in my post where i said the arms should be taken by force?

so now you are saying Hezbollah is a problem for Lebanon because that's what i understood from what you said.

as for solution.. there is only one solution and it is up to hezbollah to decide what they wants a country or a country full of militias fighting each others.

I can propose something to Sami:

Let him get ready with 25 armed man from his followers and let him invite 25 army man from HA/Amal to have a battle inside Bikfaya around his family home and let the best charismatic armed gang win.

After that battle and regardless of the outcome I will see how much he will be popular inside his home town !!!
