3rd January 2005
in our day, a growing number of people talk about reconciliation between all christian parties, and about forgetting the past.
that's all very nice and sweet and all, but still...
i have a few questions:
1-didn't bachir say that one must forgive but never forget? so these lebanese forces people should abide by the sayings of their founder.
2-since this is working for the lf, it would be stupid for any aoun partisan not to do the same, coz after all, there's a thin line between tolerance and stupidity that could mean the annihilation of a people.
3-therefore, it is kind of more tolerant than needed (not to say stupid) for aounists (i have no right to refer to the fpm), to keep with this forgetting stuff. we demand reconciliation and it's a vital need, but still we seem to forget the crimes and atrocities the warlord geagea did, and instead of forgiving, we're just holding hands as ifg nothing happened. of course we must reconciliate, but it doesn't make the lebanese forces any less guilty. i'm tlaking about the lebanese forces coz we're being frank concerning the others but they are the only ones whose mistakes we're not only forgiving but forgetting.
so, logically speaking, shouldn't all aounists be very clear about the fact that the lebanese forces drug dealing and illegal activities as well as illegal existence is the true reason for the "annahilation war" (7arb l'elgha) ?
shouldn't aounists actually hold these people responsible and demand that after geagea gets out (for he's a political prisoner), he should, along with all the criminals, be justly condemned for his crimes by a judicial objective decision and not a political one?
aren't we so eager for reconciliation that we go beyond admitting the wrong that's been done to geagea, and actually almost say the man is innocent?
aren't we betraying the cause of the great man and leader general aoun was and still is? even if u hate him, wasn't he the only legal power among militias and drug dealing, commmunity blasting, security threatening, humanity degrading, outlaws?
and therefore shouldn't these people once lebanon is secured be justly judged, and, if guilty, condemned? (we all recognise geagea hasn't had a fair trial)
i'm sorry if i'm too frank i'm just asking questions. |
