Well it depends. Line two is served by LTC buses but also by small white Hyundai buses with "I love Jesus" on the windows, a mesba7a with a cross hanging from the rear-view mirror, a picture of the Virgin Mary and one of St Christopher near the driver...

Personally think it is a waste of time. We don't have that big of a country, and any train network on the coastline will involve destroying residential areas and/or significant efforts to bypass them.

Reorganizing the road network to accommodate the increasing traffic and making it acceptable while investing in efficient and respectable public transportation is the way to go.And I believe this is much cheaper.
Where do you wanna build new roads? The road from Sassine Square to Hotel Dieu, the one from Sassine Square to Sodeco Square and further to Basta and to the Mat7af, the highway from Antelias to Beirut and further South.... all are packed every day, whether you drive early in the morning, at noon, in the evening or until after midnight...

There's no room to reorganize the roads, to build new one, or to do anything to improve the current situation, other than building a public transportation network.

With an efficient transportation network, not only will people get to their destination quicker and with less stress, but industrial and commercial goods will be transported to the different areas in Lebanon and abroad without having to deal with all the traffic!

And don't forget all the job opportunities that would be created! Directly, because of the constructions and the management and drivers that would be hired, but also indirectly: faster transports attract business and industry. The Bekaa would no longer be a forgotten plateau. Industries could settle and benefit from the transport network, but also invest in it!

And you're wrong. You think Swiss people travel only by car? Even the Himalayas have trains!

If industries settle in Bekaa , it will be over the agricultural lands of locals. That means that you will create jobs while eliminating the agriculture of the country AND the jobs that this sector provides.

And I did not say BUILD new roads. I said to reorganize the road network while investing in public transportation. Which means : fix what can be fixed, improve what can be improved. and that the same time provide the people with an alternative to their cars: decent buses which, if used properly, can reduce the traffic load on roads.
I know I am willing to use buses instead of paying gas.

Trains (except for train stations) take about 2.5 to 5 meters width on their trajectory. As I showed in the pictures in the previous page, a railway from the Port to Furn el-Chebbak is possible without having to destroy too many houses. The houses that will be destroyed will be relocated. It's all part of a bigger picture. The same can be said about all other railway networks: the one from South to North, and the one from Beirut to the Bekaa. There is space that can be used optimally. Basically, a train network takes less place than a road, but provides much more benefits!

As for "reorganizing" the roads and the networks, it's useless without a proper train system. The number of buses is not the issue. But if it takes you one hour (1h45 with extreme traffic, happened to me once) to get from Antelias to Beirut, then we have a problem, and it's best to take your car and gain 20 minutes! What can you do about the congestion within Beirut and on the highway? Nothing. There's nothing you can do

The only thing you can do is build underground. But if you're willing to do that, why not simply invest in trains? It's been done before and it's doable. All it takes is a little will!

Having train lines would be great... But they wouldn't last long; they'd be the first target for any Israeli attack.

Jeez some people are retarded, you could search my home upside down and you won't find a single religious or political word symbol or picture, only the books on the shelf.
