Default Re-engineering Lebanon's political establishment: a critical eye on the youth. - 4 Weeks Ago

Clouds are clearing and a shining period of enlightened political thoughts appears to be approaching in the horizons, not only in Lebanon but in the world as a whole.

Everybody had enough already from the absurdity that placed Lebanon in the eye of the cyclone for the last five years.

Back during the late 80s, Lebanon witnessed the rise of a strong sense of citizenship, along with the devastating victory of free spirits over criminal communism that reigned at that time. World conspiracy back then drove Syrian brutal occupational forces in to the last free zones of Lebanon. A dark era of corruptionism, multiple military occupations (Israel in the South and Syria in the rest), illegitimate government and more followed until late 90s and up till the first few years of the 21st century when free cultural activism, mobilized by a high sense of patriotism and vision to the future of Lebanon, were behind the strong currents of liberation that spread in every corner of Lebanon's territories. The high hopes then got hit by the devastating worldwide strategic mistakes of the "Bush" political school...

Lebanon and the world are about to enter a period of spiritual stability and this will start reflecting in the kinds of political debates that will rise within active circles of our civil and non-civil societies.

Thoughts will be rising to high levels that we've been missing lately; levels that touch all the big challenges of the world's societies in the near and far future.

In such periods, the youth have the major say and the greatest mark on ground, and here is the wound that I wish to hit at!

Lebanon's youth got driven by the late cyclones and young elites suffered from extreme marginalization at all levels, but like in all phases of human political history, this core part of society survived and will come out much stronger from the dark tunnel.

The time coming will open all the gates before the youth, especially the elite among them, and will place the ball in their court.

It's the time where Lebanon's youth need to capture all opportunities. It is our action from now until the next dark cloud that will define the future of our society.

Lebanon's youth have therefore a hard challenge to bare. And the one way to face that challenge is by developing and enhancing our reserves of courage, vision, education, knowledge, experience, quests, debates, etc...

We have a future - our future - to define, now or never!

The new generations carry great potentials. Older generations carry greater experiences. Current elites carry great visions and achievements.

Only a good complementarity between those three main classes, each one understanding its role and the roles of others, can carry our nation high.

Grounds will definitely witness the rise of interesting new leaderships, on both sides, the good and the bad.

The picture in the near future will be nowhere close to the picture of our society today, on all levels, social, cultural, economic, political, etc...

We are living a time where we need to jump out of our boxes, look at ourselves and think deeper about our futures. We need to define what we want in life and we need to decide what we want our fate to be, and then rely on God and move forward.

In parallel, we need to keep an eye on the major dangers that still constitute heavy loads on our ancient body. Public debt, sectarianism, Taef's political conventions, social disintegration, national identity crises, etc...

Those are big files to carry with us from yesterday's world to the world of tomorrow while building our visions for the future.

Finally and to sum everything in one sentence I shall say: a period of enlightenment is about to be witnessed in Lebanon and world societies and the youth, in all its categories and components, must be aware of that and ready to start acting in that direction.

Youth activism must re-mark Lebanon's daily life like it did since mid-90s up until year 2003-4-5.

And the first pre-requisite for success, besides good valid visions and dreams, is the knowledge and application of virtues as strong foundations for any kind of strong societies.

We have a huge history behind us to learn from, and a very challenging future to rise to, and a critical present to jump from.

The ball is in our court, we either take the shot and mark the goal, or miss the opportunity...

It's up to each one of us to define what will happen from now on!

Activism in Lebanon does not matter when Saudi Arabia can buy 60% of the votes. Electoral rules must be changed first.

Lebanon has been in the eye of the cyclone for the last sixty years and nothing preludes to any positive change in the near future so far. Quite the contrary actually.

Come to think of it, Lebanon might very well be getting out of the eye of the cyclone.

The bad news are that it better stays in the eye of the cyclone where it's mostly calm, then move towards the peripheral areas...
