I would be grateful if some LFer could answer this question:
In 1990, Syria entered Lebanon as an occupier (yes?). If any LFer thinks it was not an occupier back then (even before SG was thrown in jail please let me know).

My question is:
How can such patriotic people as LFers, be part of a Syrian government, taking into account that Syria was then an occupier? What makes you any different from Petain?

Samir Geagea is the common alias under which a Lebanese War Crime Lord and equally a giant authority in Theoretical Psychiatry, is known. Back in 1994 and as a secret agent in Médecins Sans Frontičres, Geagea, the medicine professor, was sent on a classic undercover operation into Syria. His mission was to cure Hafez Assad, who was in a very bad psychic shape, grieving his lost son Bassel.

The international community feared that an unstable and unbalanced Assad constituted a serious risk to the World's Peace. Therefore extraordinary measures had to be taken and the best of the best was needed to contain the threat.. In the below picture one can clearly see the glassy gaze in Hafez eyes, seconds after he shook hands with professor Gaga..

I object Mr Narrator...!

You completely backslided, there is a missing part in your story, you failed to tell how this fairytale ends, and neglected to provide the general public with a morality that shouldn't be overlooked.

I'm still waiting...

the answer is very easy youshka, selective memory, selective set of principles, a set of values that comes with an ON/OFF switch, and a huge potential to delude one's self.

not much different from wearing a cross by day and breaking crosses and spraying curses against Christ on walls by night; or having a picture of St Mary and St Charbel on an M16 they use to kill innocent people. we dont need politicians to reach out to geagea's supporters, we rather need shrinks and psychologists to help them out.

that said, i can promise you that if geagea was from any village other than bsharri, he would have been history decades ago, but it is the fact that the LF cadres are clinging to him through tribal ties that is helping him persevere despite committing one grave mistake after the other.

I will forgive your ignorance (sorry about the harsh word)…. DA you have no clue how critical for someone to drive to Syria and shake Hafiz Al Assad hands…The visit is extremely significant.
let's recap for a bit.
  • he sent letters to hrawi seeking to remove GMA and in return promissing submission to the syrians.
  • on october 13 1990 he provided the syrians with an artillery cover
  • few days afterwards he got rid of dany chamoun
  • he then made the LF part of a government under the tutellage of ghazi kanaan.
so trust me, the visit itself is not very significant when compared to the other things he did, however pictures and video do serve as a visual reminder to those who need their perception stimulated.

political smartness is kind of old fashioned, recently they're saying that the this visit equals: I CAN RUIN SYRIA.

Geagea went to Damascus while Boutros Khawand was kidnapped on 15 september 1992...

Boutros voted for Geagea against Georges Saade in internal kataeb elections...

Hakim did not care about Boutros...

When Samir met with Assad, Chehabi, Khaddam and Kanaan, why did he not talk about Boutros?
