I don't think that a rise of a 3rd block is a bad thing. It will definately happen on the ashes of the Haririst and LF mafias. Even if they will be our new political opponents, they are at the very least worthy of being so. I think FPM should welcome this challenge with open arms, as it is a sign that Sa3doune and Shou Ismo Hayda got defeated and won't be heard about for the next 4 years. Michel Sleiman and Najib Mikati are good people with good intentions, it will be an honorable political showdown.

on this whole issue, there is a key point of huuuuuge importance, which is the sudden raprochement between Berri and Joumblat. The way I see it, they are the core of this new "independent" strategy...in fact, i'm starting to believe that Joumblat and Berri agreed to **** up their respective alliances in order to pave the way for their detachment afer june 7. This way, Joumblat released the famous videos, and Berri tried to cut off FPM's wings in Jezzine, thus creating a sense of "m14 n m8 is history"...and after the elections we're back to square 1 and to the traditional Lebanese way of doing politics, which consists of new "impossible" alliances emerging here and there, cash flowing from desk to desk, under-the-table activity, corruption to its maximum expression, personal interests etc...

In fact this whole thing of m14 against m8, 2 visions of Lebanon, 2 concepts facing each other, survival or destruction, iran or saudi, freedom or slavery etc... i'm sure they're not appealing at all to Joumblat and Berri...when the battle is between 2 well defined blocks with opposing political agendas, those 2 are completely lost, since their way of understanding politics is inevitably linked to power, authority, money and swimming where the tide takes them and i doubt it they feel comfortable when politics is about convictions and fighting for justice, freedom and equality.

FPM should learn how to use these freaks and be ready to dump them as soon as they're useless...

Good for us, and don't forget Berri as speaker....this is the best combination for GMA to accomplish his promises.

It is impossible to have three blocs in a majority electoral system!

In 2005, there were three blocs, but HA-Amal and F14 were allied. In 2009, some have invented this centrist bloc. But do we see three lists (Opposition, loyalist and centrist)? No, we only see two: Opposition vs loyalist or opposition vs centrist!

There is no place for a third bloc... The only alternative is some people switching sides!

However, a third and fourth bloc can rise if we have a proportional representation system!
