Default President Sleiman Blogging? - 28th June 2008

It's been about a month since President Sleiman was elected, but as a Lebanese citizens, we have not truly experienced the presence of a new president.
What do you think about President Sleiman starting a blog or some other form of communication, so people can talk to him and connect with him?

How can we let him know that we want him to listen to us, the people of Lebnan?

Why blogging though? I thought he was a member of this forum, no? Let him just start a thread and introduce himself... I hope the moderators don't transfer his thread into the community forums though!

Doesn't the president have a power to do certain things? Why they call him a President if he is powerless? What are his duties? Can he, for example, threat to go public on who is behind putting obstacles on the formation of the government? I'm sure all major TVs will give him the time.

No he cant, the moment he does something like that and lets say accuses the opposition with putting obstacles on the formation of the government, he will first lose his status as a consensual president and he will come under severe attack from the opposition (leaders and base), same thing applies (vise versa) in case he accuses the loyalists.

Well, I see your point, no wonder why Lahood was hated by the loyalists. But sometimes a President must take a stand. He can't be a consensual on every move he makes. Otherwise, he will not be an effective President.

What was the difference between Elies Hrawi and Emile Lahoud?
Why did Hariri love Hrawi but hated Lahoud?

Hrawi didn't oppose Hariri stealing l akhdar wel yebes and as a result he had the blessing of Hariri when his term was amended 3 years
while
Lahoud opposed some of the things Hariri did and endud up we all know how.

So the question is, will Michel Sliemen be like Hrawi or lahoud?
