President Michel Sleiman: You have to resign immediately Some facts: Do you remember?
July 2007: Chaker el Absi slipped out of Nahr el barid
September 2007: Sleiman Declares that neither Syria is responsible of Fateh el Islam, nor internal parties (hinting Mustaqbal),
May 2008: Under the fire, Koraytem embattled by opposition forces, Hariri Jr goes on TV and make a speech accusing the army from taking side with opposition, but at the same time, insisting that Lebanon should have a president and Michel Sleiman should be president
At a first instance, we thought it is exchanging favors, Hariri not accusing Sleiman of the killing of his father like other four generals, Sleiman not accusing Hariri of killing 160 soldiers
The who is the only candidate that we can use against Michel Aoun for presidential elections, no body can do the job other than Michel Sleiman who is always ready to make deals under the table and protect Hariri Interests.
However, Hariri was obliged to give back the 1960 election Law before getting Sleiman President, which we have discussed in earlier thread. However, today is a different story:
President Sleiman announcing his will to have a block in the Parliament
OK president Sleiman, form where you are going to get your block?? From Tyr? or Saida? or Tripoli or Beirut 3? Definitely not
You want to get them form Jbeil, Kessrowan, Metn, and Baabda…..
You want to get it out of the part of FPM, the game is clear. Now we understand why you have always been the Saudi/Hariri Preferred candidate
They used you to keep Michel Aoun form getting Presidency, now they are using you to keep Michel Aoun form getting Christian Majority and Parliament Majority (with Allies)
OK, no problem, you are welcome to elections
However, we should clarify one point first, you pretended being a consensual president at the same distance form all parties, however, now you are becoming an Anti-Aoun President.
So changing the cause of being elected president, the results should be annulled. You have to resign immediately, and let us go for elections.
You like deals under the table, we don’t
You like maghamagha and unclear statements, we don’t
Your deals with Saudi/Hariri are clear
Come for elections, move Murr and Co form our face and come straight. | | | | | The Following 16 Users Say Thank You to Fakhr eddine 1618 For This Useful Post: | Anny (24th October 2008), dodzi (24th October 2008), Ebn-Antelias (26th October 2008), GloryforLebanon (24th October 2008), habnemr (27th October 2008), Ignatius (24th October 2008), iNcorruptible (26th October 2008), latinorange (13th May 2009), lucy78 (24th October 2008), Mich© (26th October 2008), NEVER_BACK_DOWN (24th October 2008), oscard (24th October 2008), Robin Hood (13th May 2009), sierra (24th October 2008), Zouxi (24th October 2008), †.) If PGMS decides to run for elections, and only does it in the regions mentioned, then GMA must go against him full throttle! We cannot allow this! | | | | | Registered Member

The Following User Says Thank You to elhorr For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

So finally Hariri understood that Geag and Gemayel cannot threaten FPM : they're betting on another horse. | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Ignatius For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

it is possible that there will be candidates who support the president,
they can run wherever they want, i don't see anything wrong with that.
the neutral mass of voters has grown a lot in the last 3 years and it is the
right of any candidate to benefit from that , it is not his fault.
either FPM is going to be able to lead or will fall out of the game,
it's democracy. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to sanfour For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

What we are contesting is two things:
- the representation of the President: does he represent the Christians? Does he represent the Lebanese? If he represents the Lebanese, then let him send candidates everywhere in Lebanon, not just between Baabda and Jbeil! If he is supposed to represent the Christians, then let him resign and let's elect GMA as president, since he represents the Christians more than all the others together!
- who is benefiting? Himself or Hariri? The Lebanese people or Hariri?
I mean seriously! What the hell is the point? Obviously blocking GMA from getting a majority in parliament! | | | | | Registered Member

This is what I was warning of in a thread a while ago. I think that after the 2009 elections, we will have a Parliament with a large bloc for what is currently the opposition, but just shy of an outright majority. There will be a smaller March 14 bloc (maybe 40% of the seats), and a bloc of a dozen or so for the president. Essentially, it will be a stalemate parliament. No aktariyeh and no aqaliyeh.
In most countries, such a parliament would lead to stability. In Lebanon, it is a recipe for disaster. Under no circumstances should the opposition allow a scenario to unfold in which they do not control a parlimentary majority in the next elections. Fakhr eddine 1618, I think you are absolutely right that the president will seek MP's in areas where FPM has a strong constituency, and in light of this, FPM should launch a pointed media campaign stressing three things to its electorate:
1. Affirming FPM's continued support of, and confidence in, the consensual President Micheal Suleiman, as well as expressing their support for him in his capacity as President.
2. Stressing FPM's conviction that while any legitimate candidate or political party can run for parliament seats in a free and fair election, the Free Patriotic Movement believes that they have the best interests of the Lebanese people at heart, and are best suited to represent the Lebanese people in Parliament.
3. The competition of FPM candidates with those of President Suleiman is not out of any narrow political consideration or rivalry, but rather an exercise of their dedication to serving the Lebanese people in the true spirit of democracy.
Also, in all areas where opposition factions/parties are relevant, they should not falter in support of FPM where it is needed & requested, even if this means not voting for President Suleiman's candidates. | | | | | Registered Member

4 years and if the people want to vote for the "neutral/independent"
candidates who will support the president then it's what the people
wants. | | | | | | |
