I think we should stop attacking him and leave the guy alone because by being secular, it is killing him that he is loosing some political media power, in the christian side, 65% and maybe even more seem to support more secularism against sectariasm, give him time, he will die by himself with an heartattack or something, he is old, the next generations are not into churches alot so he is loosing already, he doesnt need us on his back, the more we show that we are against him, some people thinks we are against the church, so about that we should just ignore him, people already saw that he is supporting another camp in christians and that he is the one who is the reason why we are split. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Anny For This Useful Post: | | | Orange Room Supporter

The patriarch is a helpless old man, but if we confront him in public we'll pay a heavy price. look at all the Lebanese politicians, they all praise him and they all end up doing against his wishes, but he hardly notices. it is not about agreeing or disagreeing with him, it is rather about paying him some lip service. FPM needs to master these games if the party wants to make it in the Lebanese swamps and quick sands. we have nothing to gain by publicly opposing the patriarch and we have alot to lose by confronting him, let's do what everybody else does, let's give him lip service and proceed with our political plans as usual. same goes for the president. FPM seems to be very gullible in these matters. | | | | | The Following 3 Users Say Thank You to Dark Angel For This Useful Post: | | | Registered Member

Infront of the public eyes, people will see how much we are sofisticated and listens and dont attack and those things but in between we move forward and we have an action plan that we making happened. That will be the role of our politicians but as members, we would show the media every time we feel social infairness from any of their ministers. I think in that way we will have shown that we are good and in the same time, we are showing the world that they are bad with their own ministers with their laws. | | | | | Registered Member

there are 2 faces for the patriarch:
- the political: people have full right to oppose the patriarch in appropriate way.
- the religious: this is the business of the church and not of the politics. however you can pinpoint on the fact that the patriarch uses his religious position to play the role of a referee in politics while he is not neutral but a member of the feb 14th filty group
en résumé, attacks on the patriarch should concern his political stances and his role as a referee. | | | | | Registered Member

i remember like 2 years ago, we were having lunch with a person who was very close to bishops and we were talking about the patriarch and why he hates Michel Aoun, the guy seriously answered: because Michel Aoun is a real threat on his christian leasdership that he enjoyed during the exile of Aoun and Gemayel and geagea in prison. The patriarch is enjoying politics "till the bone" and he became involved into it to the degree that he neglected the religious affairs of the maronite Church . he likes to meet politicians and not Monks, i think he Patriarch was looking to become like bishop Makarious of Cyprus, yaani ...... | | | | | Registered Member

Patriarch Sfeir was the worst in Lebanon history, under his reign... Christian were really divided :
1/ He played with Geagea against Aoun in 1989
2/ He signed TAEF against the majority of Christian
3/ He is now selling lands :
- He sold the "3azarieh" school in Ashrafieh to Saudi
- He sold the "Nazareth Couvent" to Saudi
- Something fishy about some lands in Mar Chayya
4/ He is full of hate toward the General
5/ He got influenced by Hariri when selecting a list of President...
He is the worst Patriarch we had, the Church is divided because of him.
He must resign NOW. | | | | | Registered Member

it will shouw that yes we have a problem with the patriarch but we respect the church and its hierarchy, and if you remember when bchara raii wanted to excommunicate us (:D:D sorry i can't hold myself on this one) the ambassador quickly halndled it | | | | | | |
